TALK AROUND TOWN SANDY COHEN’S ART COLLECTION HAS INVESTORS FLOCKING By Veda Falmouth

S

andy Cohen is a celebrated Hamptons artist whose name has been a frequent topic of conversation about what art to invest in. Her work is stunning, emotional, and riveting. Social Life sat down with her to learn more.

Your work is loved by royal families and high-end collectors. Why do you think they love your work? I dedicate myself wholeheartedly to every piece. I think people can feel and connect to that energy. It’s genuine and raw. The one thing I hear often is that my work is ‘alive.’ I’m selftaught, so there are no rules. I play between a mix of pop, contemporary, fine, classical, and street art — sometimes all on the same canvas. My pieces have been seen hanging next to artists like Alec Monopoly and Pablo Picasso. Totally opposite collections. I also enjoy combining nostalgic childhood cartoons with adult subtext. It perfectly balances seriousness with playfulness.

Your Keith Haring tribute collection is currently on display at VW Contemporary in Greenwich, Connecticut. What inspired you to create this? I love Keith Haring’s work and the era it encapsulates. He evokes so much street and nostalgia through such simple images. Art lingers long after artists leave the world, yet through their work they continue to inspire and influence generations to come. It’s a beautiful endless chain. I wanted to interact with his legacy.
