Neil speaking at a protest in Omagh against paramilitary violence
“I was born in the year of the ceasefire and it angers me that I have to ask this question; why am I standing here 29 years later on the streets of Omagh, in the face of this brutal attack that was despicably carried out in front of young people? I shouldn’t have to be standing here. Public spaces are meant to be safe spaces, not the scene of a shooting. As we turn out in our thousands to defend our health service, we turn out to rage against femicide, transphobia and all forms of oppression, that’s the real Northern Ireland. That’s what we need to remind them of. We should be organsing for a better society.”
