Is it ok for me to take my pet on summer vacation with me? I just can’t seem to leave her behind!

Of course, it is ok to take your pet on vacation with you. However, make sure that your vacation destination is pet friendly. You do not want to arrive at your destination to find out that pets are not allowed. Do a little research prior and make sure your pet is welcome.

As soon as anyone walks into my home, my dog jumps all over them. What is the best way to handle guests and pets in my home?

Many people have this same issue! First, it is always best to inform your guests that you have pets in your home. This is very important because some people have allergies that you may not be aware of. Secondly, consider putting your pet in another room until your guests get settled. This will avoid the immediate and maybe unwelcome chaos that often happens when our pets welcome our guests.

We spent some time on South Padre Island last weekend, and we took our pets with us. We had a blast, but everyone kept coming up to my dog and petting him. What is the best way to handle this since we really don’t like strangers touching our do?

This is such a good question because I think it happens a lot. We should all remember that, as much as we may love pets, not all pets love people touching them. As a pet owner, I think it is ok to inform strangers who approach that your pet does not like to be touched. Ask them politely not to pet your dog. Thank them for their attention, but explain that your dog is not fond of strangers.
