There were plenty of smiles as the Mission Police Department teamed up with Driscoll Health Plan to host a school supply giveaway on Friday, July 23, 2021. The supplies were distributed on a first come, first serveD basis, and about 1,000 backpacks were handed out.

Traditionally the City hosts an annual indoor Back to School Bash, but in light of social distancing guidelines related to COVID-19, the Mission Police Department hosted an outdoor drive-through event to maintain safety.

Citizens also had the opportunity to get vaccinated. Hidalgo County health officials, in partnership with the City of Mission, Hidalgo County Precinct 3 Commissioner’s Office, and the Mission Police Department hosted a COVID-19 vaccination clinic, next door to the police department, at the Mission Parks & Recreation gym.
