Be a part of Broadway’s spellbinding spectacular Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and experience the wizarding world like never before at this record-breaking hit and winner of six Tony® Awards including Best Play. This production promises a fantastical and unforgettable evening, with the most incredible and spectacular theatrical magic ever seen on stage.
All summer long, embrace the opportunity to move and connect with Tuesday Night Dance at the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza. Talented local instructors create classes for guests of all ages and abilities to learn new styles of dance. Plus, Summer Sounds, our outdoor concert series, returns to the plaza, the perfect way to discover brilliant musical talent of Southern California.

SUGAR SKULL! A Día de Muertos Musical Adventure
The Center’s 2026–27 Dance Series celebrates 40 years as the West Coast’s leading presenter of classical ballet and contemporary dance. From iconic story ballets to thrilling new artistic discoveries, we champion ballet’s enduring ability to excite and inspire. Don’t listen to actor Timothée Chalamet (“no one cares about ballet”); dance is more electrifying and relevant than ever!
In October the Center will host Houston Ballet, which brings Sons de L’Ame (“Sounds of the Soul”) for its West Coast premiere. It was choreographed by Australian dancer-turnedchoreographer Stanton Welsh, who took the role of artistic director of the company in 2003. It’s an intimate and elegant evening-length ballet set to the romantic work of Frédéric Chopin. Music will be performed live on stage by pianist George Li, who has established an international reputation and performs regularly with the world’s leading orchestra and conductors. He shares the stage with 16 dancers who will dazzle audiences.
This is Houston Ballet’s debut at the Center. It is the 5th largest ballet company in the United States and has been revitalized with Welsh at the helm. Hailed by The New York Times as “one of America’s best ballet companies,” Houston Ballet is among the country’s leading ballet institutions.

In a whirl of dancing snowflakes and mice making mischief, The Nutcracker returns to Segerstrom Hall with American Ballet Theatre’s superb production of this classic ballet. As soon as the curtain goes up and you see Little Mouse scurrying around the kitchen you know you are in for an exhilarating performance. Choreographed by Alexei Ratmansky for American Ballet Theatre, there are surprises and wonderment that will tickle the audience.
It’s hard not to get excited. It has amazing sets, colorful costumes, a cast of more than 100 performers, and of course, stellar performances from some of the world’s leading dancers.
The Orange County Register praises it as a “colorful, cinematic creation filled with spectacle, humor and eye-popping costumes,” and the Los Angeles Times calls it “A joyful Nutcracker that is ravishing and clever enough to inspire multiple viewings.” Pacific Symphony performs the evocative Tchaikovsky score.
Onegin returns to Orange County with all the romance and heartbreak that an innocent young girl can feel when she falls in love with an older man of the world. The Stuttgart Ballet presents the work choreographed by their late company director, John Cranko, and no company dances it like they do; they own it.
“John Cranko made many fine ballets … his crowning glory must surely be Onegin,” says seeingdance.com. “It requires consummate actors as well as superb dancers. Stuttgart delivered.”
In the story, Tatiana goes from an innocent girl swept off her feet by Onegin, a handsome but jaded man, to her life as an aristocratic married woman who understands her place in society. Onegin realizes too late the mistake he made by ignoring her in her youth. “The role of Tatiana is seen as a dream role for ballerinas,” says the SF Chronicle, “requiring both innocence and tragic depth.”
Based on Alexander Pushkin’s classic novel and set to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score (performed live by Pacific Symphony), this lavish production reminds us why great ballet endures.

Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernandez* returns to the Center as a fan favorite. This is the company that brings together the music, dance and costumes of Mexican folklore from pre-Colombian civilizations to the modern era.
The swirling skirts of the women, the sombreros of the men, the trumpets and violins of the mariachi—this is Ballet Folklórico de Mèxico. For more than 60 years, this dance ensemble has performed dances that reflect the traditions, cultures and beliefs of the individual regions of Mexico by way of dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández.
You don’t have to travel any farther than the Center to experience this dance phenomenon. As the company’s website says, “[Ballet Folklórico de Mèxico] is a living museum that transmits Mexico’s cultural traditions to the world.” Whether it’s “The Dance of the Deer,” “Dance of the Quetzels,” or Jarabe Tapatio—the famous hat dance that symbolizes a romantic courtship—the performances highlight the authentic Mexico. There are many folklorico companies out there, but Ballet Folklórico de Mèxico is the original and the best.
Alexei Ratmansky’s inspired reconstruction of the classic ballet The Sleeping Beauty awakens the timeless story of love triumphing over evil. Presented by American Ballet Theatre and featuring lavish costumes and magnificent storybook sets, this expressive tale of the beautiful Princess Aurora, the evil sorceress Carabosse, and the handsome prince and his magical kiss is certain to cast a spell on your heart and spark your imagination.
This production is a bit different. Ratmansky has often referred to it as a “reconstruction”—in other words, a staging informed by historical sources. He and his wife, Tatiana, have researched production notes of the original choreographer Marius Petipa to take the ballet back to its roots. It means dancing that echoes the original late 19th-century steps—nothing too exaggerated, no spectacular jumps, but still magnificent movement.
“Much like a critical edition in music, it attempts to scrape back the layers of habit and performance tradition to rediscover something close to the original ‘text,’ in this case, Marius Petipa’s steps,” says Dancetabs. “It feels alive, filled with ideas about what Sleeping Beauty represents, about style, about classicism and Petipa, and about ballet itself.”
The enchanting score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky will be performed live by Pacific Symphony.

A major premiere anchors the season: Ballet Hispánico New York* performs Don Q: In Pursuit of the Impossible, co-commissioned by Segerstrom Center for the Arts®. Choreographed by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa with Ludwig Minkus’ charming score performed live by Pacific Symphony, this bold contemporary reimagining of the classic story promises an unforgettable season highlight. The story is set in a fever dream, where forms shift, logic loosens, and imagination extends beyond the limits of what is real. This will be the first time the company has presented the work with a live orchestra.
Ballet Hispánico is the nation’s leading Hispanic/Latin dance company and the
largest cultural institution of its kind in the United States. “Ballet Hispánico dances with elegance and lyricism,” says The Washington Post. Their performances seamlessly blend dance excellence, contemporary innovation, and cultural authenticity. Ballet Hispánico continues to redefine what it means to be an American dance company.

How do we get children excited about going to the theater? One way is to start when they are young, and that’s where the Center comes in! Our Family Series features productions created specifically for family audience—adults love the performances as much as the kids. Whether it’s a familiar show like The Pout-Pout Fish or something completely new, everyone leaves with a smile on their face.
We want everyone to experience the magic, so we offer three productions each season with Sensory Friendly/Relaxed performances designed for anyone who may benefit from a more supportive, flexible sensory environment. This season’s participating productions are Yellow Bird Chase, Tales of the Sun and Moon, and The Pout-Pout Fish.
All families can also enjoy free, handson activities together one hour before each performance. This time together encourages family interaction and creative play.

A Día de Muertos Musical Adventure
Experience the magic, music, and heart of SUGAR SKULL! A Día de Muertos Musical Adventure. When 12-year-old Vita Flores questions why her family celebrates Día de Muertos, a lively candy skeleton whisks her into a vibrant world where ancestors dance, legends come to life, and tradition takes center stage. Featuring stunning regional Mexican music and dance, audiences will discover the meaning behind this beloved holiday.
This production is from Rhythm of the Arts, a company dedicated to creating culturally rich and engaging live performances. The company specializes in music, dance, and family-focused programming that fosters cross-cultural collaboration.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast
Be our guest at Disney’s 30th anniversary production of Beauty and the Beast, the breathtaking musical filled with all the romance and grandeur audiences know and love. All your favorite characters are there, including Gaston and Lefou, Mrs. Potts, Cogsworth, Lumiere and more, all in Segerstrom Hall.
This enchanting and timeless tale has been brought to life like never before, with spectacular new sets and dazzling costumes. The show boasts the Oscar-winning and Tony®nominated score, including classic songs “Be Our Guest” and “Beauty and the Beast.” This beloved musical will fill your heart with joy and Disney magic.
Yellow Bird Chase
Join a bumbling maintenance crew on a hilarious, wordless adventure! When a magical yellow bird appears, a mad chase unfolds across seas, skies and imaginary lands—all without ever leaving the storage room. Filled
with masks, puppets, and playful gibberish, the fully accessible, high-energy show sparks laughter and wonder for the whole family. This unstoppable show celebrates creativity, cooperation and the pure joy of play. Yellow Bird Chase is fully accessible to deaf and hardof-hearing audiences as well as non-English speakers.
The show is produced by Liars & Believers, a Boston-based theater company. Their devised work blends music, movement, masks, puppetry, and clowning to explore the human experience with heart and imagination.
Milo the Magnificent
Milo is a young magician with a big heart and a bit of stage fright. Inspired by 19th-century vaudeville, this comedy uses imaginative puppetry to bring Milo’s magical world to life. Even when his tricks go haywire, there is spectacle, humor, and creativity that will captivate audiences of all ages. This family-friendly production celebrates curiosity,

resilience, and the joy of live performance.
Milo the Magnificent comes to us from Alex and Olmstead, an internationally known puppet theater based in Baltimore. Known for their imaginative original productions, they have toured globally. “Milo … aspires to be an illusionist,” says The New York Times, “and while his tricks and experiments rarely work out as planned, children will still find them magical.”
Tales of the Sun and Moon
No matter where we are in the world, we all look at the same sun and moon. Every culture carries stories about the heavens, shaped by imagination, science, and tradition. This world premiere from Honolulu Theatre for Youth weaves together some of these celestial myths. This visually rich production honors cultural perspectives while celebrating what connects us all under the same sky.
This is a third visit to the Center for Honolulu Theatre for Youth, one of the most respected children’s theaters in the country. It produces professional theater and drama education programs that make a difference in the lives of
young people, families, and educators. These performances allow them to expand their imaginations, enrich their lives and discover the infinite possibilities in the world.
Meet the Hatter
We know the story of Alice’s adventures in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter’s crazy tea party. But what if he throws a party and no one shows up? Poor Hatter! But he uses the power of imagination to create his own magical Wonderland. The production blends live performance with dazzling digital projection, animation, lighting, and original music. This cinematic experience celebrates play, creativity, and self-belief.
This comes to us from Joss Arnott Dance, a contemporary dance company based in Northern England. Known for its bold, dynamic choreographic style, the company creates ambitious productions rooted in classical and commercial techniques, shaped by a contemporary aesthetic and inspired by music. The company’s athletic and technically brilliant performers captivate audiences.

The Pout-Pout Fish
This joyful musical adventure is filled with whimsical puppets, live performers, and an ocean-sized heart. We follow Mr. Fish as he sets out to recover Miss Clam’s missing pearl. Along the way he discovers friendship, confidence, and his own hidden sparkle. This delightful show invites audiences of all ages to turn even the poutiest frown upside down.
TheaterWorksUSA brings exceptional theatrical experiences to young and family audiences. For 57 years it has been a trailblazer in theater for young audiences, and its productions go beyond simple fairytales to create meaningful, transformative experiences.
GRIMMZ II: Once Upon a Rhyme
Jay and Will Grimmz return with the all-new GRIMMZ II: Once Upon a Rhyme. This urban fairy tale delivers high-energy beats, theatrical effects and a “rapsidazical” twist on classic stories. Featuring all-new songs, dances, and rhymes, the Grimmz bring fun, rhythms, and life lessons about making the world a better place. Pay your bling and hear them sing songs like
“Hansel and Gretel Get Lost in the Streets.”
This show is co-created by Experiential Theater Company and Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, which has grown to become one of the top theater and education organizations for young people in the country. It is recognized for the strength of its programs, with technically imaginative productions and wide-ranging education programs for young people.
There will be a special add-on show to the Family Series. The American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School will present the classic story of Peter and the Wolf. It’s a tale that resonates with children, who love the humor and are sometimes scared of the wolf. The ballet premieres in spring 2027 and will become part of the Center’s Family Series repertoire. “In celebration of &Juliet, we hosted a client experience that echoed one of the show’s central themes: the power of guidance, encouragement and shared wisdom,” adds Scott. “Guests were invited to attend the performance alongside a mentor who has helped shape their personal or professional journey,” said Ingle. “The evening became more than a night at the theater—it was an opportunity to recognize the people who help others find their voice, take risks and chart new paths, much like the characters on stage who challenge expectations and reimagine what comes next.”
Through its ongoing support of the arts, PNC Bank leads by example, demonstrating a deep commitment to the communities it serves and sending a clear signal that the arts are a powerful force for connection. Save the Date!

We’re throwing a big birthday party and we want you to join us! It’s been 40 years since Segerstrom Center opened and 20 years since we opened the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall and Samueli Theater. We’ve had a lot of amazing shows here in that time, from the best of Broadway to leading jazz and cabaret artists, and have showcased the best dance the world has to offer. There is a lot to celebrate!
This free family-friendly event will run from 11 am to 3 pm with full campus participation. We’ll have marching bands and mariachi performing on the Julianne and George Argyros Plaza throughout the day, as well as crafts and other activities. Inside Segerstrom Hall there will be backstage demonstrations of what goes on behind the scenes. American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School and Studio D: Arts School for All Abilities will have master classes and drop-in classes.
The celebration will include exciting performances and activities by UC Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art, Pacific Symphony, and Pacific Chorale. We’ll have more details in next month’s program, but in the meantime, mark your calendar for a day that celebrates you, our patrons.

Making Broadway shows even more accessible
The magic of live Broadway lives in the lyrics that carry emotion, the dialogue that drives the story forward, the moments that make us laugh, cry, and connect. But for some, those words can be difficult to fully hear.
In its ongoing efforts to create a Center that is accessible for everyone, we are introducing WatchWord Live Caption Glasses. This technology allows those who are deaf or hard of hearing to have real-time captions delivered through smart glasses worn by the guest. The system is designed specifically for live theater, and captions are synchronized with the production to preserve the artistic integrity of the show. At the present time, the glasses will be available for select performances.
The captions appear within the guest’s field of vision, so patrons don’t need to look away from the stage to read a separate screen. While using the glasses, patrons use a handheld controller to adjust caption settings such as text size, color, brightness and placement to create a comfortable and personalized viewing experience.
Some patrons who have tried the caption glasses told the Center that it is their way back into the theater and to connect with performances in a way they haven’t been able to in years. Others have found that using caption glasses in tandem with an assisted listening device creates an even more immersive experience.
Patrons who would like to use the glasses can request them in the Orchestra Level Lobby of Segerstrom Hall before the performance. There are 12 pairs of glasses available on a first come, first served basis. They are free with a photo ID as collateral which will be returned when the glasses are checked back in. Staff members will be available to assist patrons with fitting the glasses and showing them how they work.

The sixties—what a groovy era! Even if you weren’t born then, you’ve certainly heard the era’s famous music. It was a time when you could pick up a guitar, rope in some friends to take the drums and bass, and start singing. If you were lucky, you could soon find yourself performing your big hit on The Ed Sullivan Show or Hullabaloo. Many groups went on to sing some of the most iconic music around, and it’s still popular.
The Sixties Show is the big hits from the Youthquake era when music, pop culture, and fashion were making huge changes. This off-Broadway show recreates the music, the B sides and deep-cut albums from groups like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Beach Boys, The Rascals, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and more. These are note-for-note
recreations that will make you think you’re back at the Cow Palace or Fillmore East.
This is more than nostalgia. It’s the real thing. There are no videos, no pre-recorded music, or backing tracks. The band is made up of musicians who’ve performed or recorded with some of the biggest names in the business. They play authentic instruments of the time, and costumes add to the authenticity. (Remember headbands and fringed suede vests?)

Peter and the Wolf: a look forward
As American Ballet Theatre William J. Gillespie School celebrates its 10th anniversary, it’s also looking to its future.
This season, in a bold and unprecedented move, the company is creating a new story ballet performed solely by ABT Gillespie students to the timeless music of Sergei Prokofiev’s 1936 “symphonic tale for children.”
This work is still as modern as it was when it was composed. There is a narrator who tells the story as the wind section of an orchestra uses different instrument sounds to “act” each part. Who knew a bassoon could be such a star? In this case, both the music and dance will carry children along on an exciting journey.
“This will be a fresh take on an old ballet,” says Susan Brooker, artistic director of the school and choreographer of Peter. “It will be set in the mountains in Southern California and the characters will be local to this area.”
That means the bird will be a hummingbird, and the duck will be a mallard. Peter and his grandfather will probably wear dungarees, and the hunters, in a comic turn, will have surprising items to try and catch their prey, the wolf. And there is the tree that is the heart of the story. It serves as a way for the smaller animals and birds to escape danger as well as a vantage point for Peter when he’s trying to capture the wolf.
Peter and the Wolf will be performed in Samueli Theater by students in the school’s Performance Ensembles. These comprise three levels of age and ability, including pre-professional, and are a bridge between the studio and the professional stage. Each ensemble studies repertoire that is appropriate for their age and skill levels, so they gain the experience of rehearsing artistic detail, technique and musicality with material that
they can fully master. The students benefit from the opportunity to dance on stage and gain confidence. For pre-professional dancers, this opportunity can help cultivate nuanced skills required for a high-level dance career.
The ballet, which premieres in spring 2027, will become part of the Center’s Family Series, and there will be public performances through the engagement. “Our ballets will contain the American Ballet Theatre tradition of using dance to tell a story,” says Brooker. “Children can relate to the story and really get drawn in to what’s happening on stage.”
Peter and the Wolf is the first in an ongoing partnership between the school and the Center’s education department to develop new story ballets for children and families, performed exclusively by the Gillespie School students. These will be developed to celebrate our local communities, such as finding a popular traditional story or fairy tale to recreate in dance. This will also help enable students to learn other types of dance. Professional dancers need to know how to perform folk dance, contemporary dance, and more as they progress through their career.
