Staying Alive with Sam and Soledad

STAYING ALIVE

We live in a world where the wellness industry is worth trillions of dollars and we’re distracted by crystals, face masks, and crystal face masks. But no amount of serums or essential oils can cover up these unacceptable, harsh realities:

• About 1.5 billion women did not have access to preventative care in 2021

• Three in 10 (30%) women in 2020 — or more than 750 million worldwide — report experiencing physical pain during a lot of the previous day.

THE SHOW

Sam and Soledad are on a mission to find the most innovative, effective ways to improve women’s healthcare and spread them as far and wide as instagram posts on intermittent fasting. Each episode builds on the last as they dive deep into the root causes, highlight communities around the globe fighting for better care, and work with advocates and scientists to develop creative solutions.

We’ll kick off the series with emotional, authentic, funny stories from unapologetic women around the world who, despite their differing circumstances, all share the same health issue. Like high blood pressure, migraines, or that thing that happens when you turn 35 and your knees hurt whenever you sneeze. They'll galvanize Sam and Soledad to go out on their journey.

As they make their way through the medical and political community, there will be highs, lows, and some truly absurd twists.

Sam and Soledad will pay special attention to how these issues affect marginalized groups people of color and non-binary folks — who are traditionally overlooked by the medical community.

Since Sam and Soledad are not doctors (they’ve never even played one on TV), they’ll track down experts on the frontlines who have the fix, or are currently working on one, and work with their new think tank to create a forward-moving plan.

Together, they’ll test ridiculous theories, help people find the real answers, and take people who are peddling false promises to task. All along the way, they'll work with Apple and our team to build something that actually helps women. For real!

They’ll end the season with a global symposium of patients, researchers, and doctors to present their findings and move forward with bold new ideas and next steps. And we will launch the app, the VR hospital, the big, splashy, very real thing that we’ve built with Apple to help SAVE WOMEN’S LIVES.

Mixing Soledad’s fact-driven journalism style with the humorous field pieces of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, this series is giving the misinformation and dry talking points swirling around women’s healthcare a much-needed makeover. With an accessible, inviting and optimistic tone, this show thinks BIG. With the help of Apple, we go beyond reporting and into a
