KARUN THAKAR FOR SOANE BRITAIN
Soane Britain’s new autumn collection draws on the expertise of a world-renowned textile collector, Karun Thakar. Textiles owned by Thakar have already informed some of Soane’s bestloved patterns, including ‘Dianthus Chintz’, ‘Tulips and Butterflies’ and ‘Indian Parrots’. As a new exhibition at The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum prepares to feature many of Karun’s most beautiful pieces, he has collaborated with Soane on four new designs. Each design is based on a different 18th-century Indian textile from Thakar’s collection. The collaboration with Karun is at the heart of a wider new collection set to launch at Soane this autumn, including new rattan chairs, a smart trolley inspired by a design in Lulu’s book Rattan, elegant porcelain light shades, and additions to the brass bamboo lighting collection, with their angled arms reminiscent of bamboo stems.
