A link to the latest edition of Aspects is sent via the Sentral Parent Portal and app.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

These interviews are held twice a year for all K-12 families. Parents and carers will be sent a notification in the Sentral Parent Portal Newsfeed of the timing of these interviews and will be required to book online via Interviews in the Sentral Parent Portal (Junior School) or via an alternate link (Middle and Senior School).

School Diary (Middle and Senior Schools)

All Middle and Senior School students are issued with a school diary. This diary serves as a crucial tool for communication between the school and families. For parents and carers of Middle and Senior School students, it is highly recommended that the diary be checked on a regular basis.

School Reports

Reports are sent to parents and carers twice a year for all Kindergarten to Year 12 students. A notification will be sent through the Sentral Parent Portal.

Eventbrite

From time to time the school holds events that members of the wider community are invited to attend. Eventbrite is used as our online ticketing portal in these instances.

Flexischools (SMGS Canteen)

The SMGS Canteen is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. All Kindergarten to Year 12 students can order their lunch online through Flexischools.

Junior School Parent Liaison

The Parent Liaison representative serves as a central point of contact for parents, facilitating social connections, communication channels, and organizing events upon request from the classroom teacher or the Head of Junior School. They offer support and build relationships with new parents. Additionally, once enrolled, Junior School families will have the opportunity to voluntarily join a What’s App group for their child(ren)’s respective year levels.

SMGS utilises SMS for emergency and time-sensitive notifications; for example, a bus returning late from an excursion. In these cases, an SMS will be sent to all preferred contacts.

Social Media

We encourage the SMGS community to follow what is happening at the school via our Facebook, Instagram or YouTube channels. Social media is a secondary platform at our school, used to celebrate school events, student achievements and showcase student’s learning experiences.

Website

The school website carries information for prospective families and students about the school. It is also home to the school blog and links to school information such as bus timetables, fee schedules, term dates, etc.

Communication and Interaction Expectations

During the academic year, the school holds parent/teacher interviews to discuss student progress. If any issues arise at other times, a meeting can be requested by a parent or staff member, organised by the class teacher (for Junior School) or the relevant Head of School (for the Middle and Senior Schools). Please avoid contacting staff members on their mobile numbers unless the staff member has requested this and there has been authorisation from the appropriate Head of School.

Our staff members are available to address your questions or concerns about your child, but they may not be immediately accessible during class or other tasks. Staff are not expected to respond to communications before 8.15 am or after 6.15 pm on weekdays, or at all over the weekends.

All communication, written or verbal, with members of the school community (teachers, support staff, parents or students) should be respectful and courteous, and avoid confrontational or immoderate language.
