As a member of the Snowy Mountains Grammar School Snowsports Academy (SA), students are expected to uphold the highest standards of behaviour, respect and responsibility whilst at school and also on the program. Participation in the Academy is a privilege and students must adhere to the following expectations to ensure a safe, positive, and productive experience for all.
Students are to follow the directions of supervising staff.
Disruptive, unsafe or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, disobedience, rudeness, or any actions that compromise the safety or well-being of others.
Bullying, harassment, or any form of misconduct towards peers, coaches, staff, or members of the public is strictly prohibited.
1.2
Students must wear the correct SMGS Snowsports jacket whilst travelling on the bus and Ski Tube and be seated in the front carriage of the train.
Seatbelts must be worn at all times while on the bus.
Standing, moving around, or engaging in distracting behaviours that compromise the driver’s focus is not permitted.
1.3
Students must arrive on time, fully prepared with the required equipment and a positive attitude.
Any reckless or unsafe skiing/riding will result in disciplinary action, including potential removal from sessions.
Instructions from coaches and staff must be followed immediately and without argument.
Respect must be shown to all coaches, teammates and competitors.
If a staff member determines that a student is too fatigued to safely participate, they must stay home or at school for that day’s training.
Students are expected to maintain healthy sleep habits and manage their energy levels responsibly.
1.5
Students must keep up-to-date with their schoolwork and meet all academic expectations.
Falling behind in coursework may result in being taken off the Snowsports Academy program until academic requirements are met.

Additional
Other student expectations not stated are in accordance with pre-existing school rules and expectations for students including adhering to our school values and related behaviour policies.

Failure to adhere to this Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action, which may include:
Temporary suspension from the training program.
Removal from the program for repeated breaches.
Removal from the program for a significant major breach.

Should students choose not to adhere to the requirements stated above, they will jeopardise their ongoing place in the program. If a student engages in repeated minor breaches of behaviour, they will be advised and we will make every attempt to communicate with parents any warnings issued to a student.
For ongoing repeated breaches or a significant major breach of the Student Code of Conduct, resulting in the students’ termination in the program, there will be NO refunds.
The Snowsports Code of Conduct is applicable from the date of the acceptance of this notification which needs to be completed by the Thursday 2 April 2026 and emailed to: sally.bourke@smgs.nsw.edu.au.
