Tahoe Tastes is put together with you in mind. We’ve divided up the South Shore by neighborhoods: Tahoe Keys & “The Y”, MidTown, and Stateline. Each section lists the restaurants in alphabetical order for ease of use. Our guide is meant to give you a taste of what each restaurant has to offer and the best ways to connect. From the grill we offer burgers made to Sonney’s specifications from Overland Meat, including a lamb burger, as well as grilled portabella and chicken breast. Fresh salads, corn chowder and Sonney’s own chile verde are perfect for a lighter bite.

hen does a restaurant in Lake Tahoe become more than the food, drinks and service? We guess it’s when it becomes a gathering place and the food becomes part of your Tahoe memories.

We can’t say exactly why this is, but we are proud to know that our community has come to think of the Blue Angel Café & Catering Company in that way. All we do is offer fresh innovative food from around the world. We’ve been doing it for 10 years now, which is a real surprise, even to us.

We built the Blue Angel Café around one of our favorite past times - getting together over wine and steaming plates of food. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and take a trip around the world with curries from the streets of Bangkok, fish tacos from Baja, or hand rolled pizzas from Italy. Locals never tire of our menu because we keep it seasonal and compliment it with a great craft beer selection, locally-roasted Alpen Sierra coffee and a boutique wine list featuring the best of California’s foothill wineries.

We keep it healthy and local as much as possible. Our New Zealand chef, Glenn Simpson, makes sure there is a wide variety of gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options as well as healthy options for kids.

Located at the base of Kingsbury Grade (SR207) a half mile from the casinos, Mott Canyon offers a little something for everyone. Since 1997, Mott has been serving up Lake Tahoe’s best casual dining with generous portions and great variety including pizza. The locals say “if you can’t find something great to eat at Mott, you’re just not hungry!”

We serve a full menu and a full bar everyday from 11am to 4am, so please take a look at our menu and come give us a try. You don’t want to miss our Mott’s Famous Beer Battered Fries and Sweet Potato Fries!

We compliment our great food with a full bar with premium brands in the well, 13 ice cold beers on tap, a giant granite fireplace in the winter and a sunny outdoor patio in the summer. Happy Hour is everyday from 4pm to 6pm and late night specials from 10pm to 4am.

he three daughters of Mr. Kim came up with the idea of Sushi Pier from their family’s experience with other Reno restaurants. In the early 1990’s their family served authentic Japanesestyle sushi at the “Sushi Bar” restaurant, which was located on Center Street across from the Cal-Neva Casino, and also offered sushi a few blocks down on West Second Street at the “Bamboo Garden,” which was a Korean BBQ restaurant.

The first Sushi Pier opened on East Plumb Lane in Reno in the spring of 2000. It was once described by a restaurant critic as being slightly bigger than a “hole in the wall place,” yet smaller than her living room. In Sushi Pier’s case, it was definitely true.

The Sushi Pier family opened their second restaurant at 300 E. Plumb Lane in the Park Lane Mall in July 2003. That location closed in January 2007 due to the construction, but was soon reopened at their current location on South Virginia Street in June of 2007.

In early 2010 we had the opportunity to open our newest Sushi Pier location in beautiful Lake Tahoe and we went for it. Thanks to local support and the numerous visitors to this pristine area, we have been successful here and hope to continue enjoying serving the public for many years to come.
