School OF BUSINESS Meet the Faculty Dr. Burton Reynolds

A bit about your professional background: I have a diverse professional background. I began my journey at the University of Vermont on Forest Street. One of the most valuable aspects of the program there was its focus on ecosystems. This laid the foundation for my career, emphasizing the importance of collaboration within organizational systems.

Subsequently, I spent several years in the military, engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds and specializing in change management and culture change. Transitioning from the military, I worked in high-tech companies, particularly in computer companies, where I collaborated with executives on large-scale systems change. Alongside, I began teaching as an adjunct at Southern New Hampshire University, eventually making a full transition to higher education. I've taught both at the graduate and undergraduate levels, conducting research and impacting the lives of over 10,000 students. The ability to positively influence students and witness their personal and professional growth has been a rewarding experience.

What do you feel is unique about SNHU? Southern New Hampshire University, at its core, is a creative institution. The freedom to explore new approaches and the prioritization of students over publishing make it unique. Our commitment to listening to and working with students distinguishes us. The transformative journey many students undergo, evolving from freshmen to young professionals, is a testament to the institution's impact. The emphasis on student-centric education sets SNHU apart, fostering a culture of creativity and responsiveness.

School OF BUSINESS Meet the Faculty Dr. Burton Reynolds Why is education important to me and the world at large?

Education holds personal significance for me due to my father's advice. Coming from a blue-collar background, he emphasized the importance of education for expanding life's possibilities. Education opens doors, providing opportunities to explore diverse paths. In today's globally competitive environment, with rapid technological advancements, lifelong learning is not just a cliché but a necessity. Educated individuals are better positioned to navigate change, understand different cultures, and thrive in an ever-changing world. Education is the key to success, both on a personal and global scale.

How do you continue to learn and evolve as a leader in higher education?

As a leader in higher education, I actively seek opportunities to learn and evolve. Guest speaking in other professors' classrooms allows me to absorb new insights. Attending conferences is another avenue to stay current with world events and professional developments. Active participation in associations and staying updated is crucial to modeling the concept of lifelong learning. Stagnation can set in if one fails to stay current, and as an educator, staying relevant ensures that the knowledge imparted is timely and applicable.

Beyond work as a profession, what are you passionate about and what do you enjoy doing?

Beyond my professional life, I am passionate about fly fishing. Growing up in Vermont, surrounded by rivers and ponds, fishing became a therapeutic hobby for me. Tying my flies adds an extra layer of enjoyment. It serves as a calming therapy, especially on a quiet sunny day by the river, with the birds chirping. Being close to nature is not just a hobby but a source of tranquility. This passion not only rejuvenates me but also provides a healthy balance in life. My wife, too, appreciates the time I spend outdoors pursuing this hobby.

Sales professionals play a vital role in businesses and organizations across all industries. They’re revenue generators, brand ambassadors, problem solvers, and solution providers. By enhancing your SNHU major with Professional Sales courses, you’ll learn how to meet the needs of today’s customers and hone your communication skills through collaboration with intro and advanced-level students. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with successful, supportive alumni in the sales field, giving you viable contacts for internships and post-graduation job opportunities.

Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) is looking for a highly motivated Sales Business Analyst who is Responsible for compiling, maintaining, analyzing, and presenting market, customer, and internal company sales data to evaluate performance and sales strategies in the market. Maintains databases and prepares weekly/monthly reports. Need to Provide analysis of market execution and program ROI. Forecast and track marketing and sales trends, analyzing collected data. Prepare reports of findings, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings into written text.

SR. BUSINESS ANALYST SR. BUSINESS ANALYST Partnering with Agile Squads and the WI Client and Participant Services Business you play a vital role in support of the WI Operations telephony / eServices platforms. This role will be responsible for project management and business analysis to guarantee service provisioning, readiness, and stability for these customer contact channels. Technical know-how and business process intelligence are provided by the business analysis consultant. The Genesys and Interaction Channel platform configuration is supported by this role.
