2020-2021 Impact Report
Here's how your support helps Sister Katherine 'Sissy' Corr, SNDdeN, and the staff have persevered at the Notre Dame Bakery in Les Cayes, Haiti, despite a tumultuous year. Between the presidential assassination and the 7.2 magnitude earthquake just four weeks later, along with ongoing challenges of the Covid pandemic, the obstacles were daunting. Yet, the 18 employees still show up to fulfill their commitment and, now, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur have partnered with D'lo Haiti to provide another life essential-clean drinking water-through a reverse osmosis water purification process. The building, on the bakery site, is complete and the equipment installation is underway.
s us share God's goodness: Sister Sandy Price, SNDdeN, has been a catalyst in developing much-needed programs and services in rural Nicaragua since beginning her mission work in the war-torn country in the 1980s. When back-to-back hurricanes hit the region in late 2020, Sr. Sandy and sisters of the Misioneras de Cristo – a congregation of Nicaraguan women – partnered with community leaders to assess the needs of the Mulukukú municipality. They delivered a multi-tiered response in 2021 through a joint effort with parent and community leaders supported by donations through the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The work included helping families rebuild homes, delivering food, and replanting crops.

After retirement from fulltime ministry, Sisters remain very active. During advent more than 150 hats were produced by the Sisters in Ipswich. These hats went to many groups, including folks in a tent city near Boston Hospital, the Project Hope Family Shelter in Roxbury, the House of Peace in Ipswich, Afghan families in Worcester, and with Sr. Bárbara Gutiérrez to the Arizona border.
On Saturday, September 18, 2021, Sister Gillian Wallace professed her first vows as a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur. The ceremony was held in Cunningham Chapel at Notre Dame de Namur University, and was attended by family, friends, and Sisters from many states. Sister Gillian is now serving as a teacher of religious studies at Notre Dame High School in San Jose, California.

Since 2004, Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School has been providing a rigorous Catholic, affordable, college-preparatory education for young women and men from families with limited income in the greater Lawrence, MA community. The school provides students the opportunity to earn a portion of their tuition through its Corporate Work-Study Program (CWSP) while also preparing them for higher education through a college-preparatory curriculum. Through CWSP, each of the students works five full days per month during the academic year at one of 75 local companies gaining valuable work experience.
