PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

The intercessions will be read in various languages. Translations are provided. Please speak the response at the lector’s invitation.

All stand.

English | God of Love, we have known you in the faces of Sisters, Associates, teachers, supporters, and friends who have shown us the witness of the women who have embraced the charism of St. Julie in California over the past 175 years. We give thanks for these models of faith. For this we pray,

All: God of Goodness, hear us!

Spanish | God of Wisdom, as the prophets of old sometimes questioned your words, so too do we sometimes question the path you have set for us. May we trust in your guidance as our community continues to flourish. For this we pray,

All: God of Goodness, hear us!

Japanese | God of Compassion, may we stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in our global community to celebrate the dignity of each person. We pray especially for peace amidst conflict. For this we pray,

All: God of Goodness, hear us!

French | God of Knowledge, St. Julie Billiart urged her sisters to, “Teach them what they need to know for life.” May all students in Notre Dame learning communities be inspired to fulfill her mission. May we use this to improve the lives of those in our global community. For this we pray,

All: God of Goodness, hear us!

Arabic | God of Justice, we have learned the importance of service and leadership. Help us walk alongside others with the power of our work and prayer to bring your light and love to the world. For this we pray,

All: God of Goodness, hear us!

Tagalog | God our Guide, fill our hearts with passion as we continue the mission of the Sisters and all Notre Dame de Namur learning communities. May we continue to grow in purpose and look toward a future filled with exciting possibilities. For this we pray,

All: God of Goodness, hear us!

Hindi | God of Healing, soothe with your presence all those who are sick or struggling. And for those who have died, may they enjoy their eternal rest with God. In a special way, we remember all those in the Notre Dame family who have passed and have left a lasting impact on the congregation and our school community. For this we pray,

All: God of Goodness, hear us!

All are seated.

Liturgy of the Eucharist

We gather around the Lord’s Table to share in our Eucharistic meal, Christ’s own body and blood, broken and shared to nourish us as we share God’s love with a world in need of peace.

CLOSING REMARKS

MAGNIFICAT OF ST. JULIE AND FRANÇOISE

Adapted from the Gospel of Luke by Sr. Sharon McMillan, SNDdeN

All:

May our souls magnify the good God and our spirits rejoice together in God our savior, who has looked upon you, And led us gently by the hand.

We, servants and friends, We, sisters and companions, marked by the cross, marked by courage.

All generations will call us blessed: for the God of compassion has done great things for us in God’s name.

This is the power we proclaim with our lives, this is the tenderness that sets us singing, this is the goodness that burns in our hearts:

that God lifts up the lowly, that God shelters the poor and the desolate, that God feeds the hungry and nurtures the lost, while those who rely on pride and might, righteousness and security are scattered, for God remembers those who serve, God is close to those who wait, God is faithful to those who trust.

And we, one in mind, one in heart, we friends, we sisters, we remember God’s promises, promises made to all people, and we hold tight to the love that fulfills them all, who is faithful forever.

In joy and confidence, we together magnify the good God. Amen.
