MESSAGE FROM THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
From the
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR Dear NDCL Community and Fans, As many of you know, the past year in the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School’s Athletic Department has been a time of change in many areas. First, and foremost, an Athletic Administration team was assembled, consisting of myself, Associate Athletic Director Randy Thomas, Assistant Athletic Director Andrew Mooney and Sports Information Coordinator/Athletic Assistant Paulette Welch. Our mission is to build upon the successes athletics has had in the past and then continually work to improve every facet of the athletic program in order to give our studentathletes the best experience possible.

In addition, numerous facility improvements and enhancements have been taking place campus-wide and we sincerely appreciate the support of our school and the donors that have made them possible. From the shiny new floor in McGarry Gymnasium and new video scoreboard in Lion Stadium to the renovation of the boys lockeroom and new Wollschleger Weight Training and Wellness Center these upgrades reflect the quality of our athletic program.
Here at NDCL, we take great pride in offering an outstanding, educationally based athletic program that strives for excellence. Thus, our athletic administration, staff and coaches are committed to providing a challenging, supportive and caring environment where our student-athletes can reach their academic, athletic and personal potential. In essence, athletics is the last class of the day for our student-athletes and provides valuable lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, hard work and emotional development as they learn to deal with the various situations, including wins and losses, that their sports present. Whether their “classroom” is a gym, ice rink, court, pool, field or track, those lessons foster a framework for later successes in life. The NDCL Athletic Department appreciates the loyalty, enthusiasm and energy that surrounds our athletic programs and recognize the important role that alumni, parents and all of our fans play in bringing that atmosphere to our events. However, just as we expect our coaches, administrators and student-athletes to conduct themselves in a manner that shows respect and sportsmanship when we interact with opposing teams, coaches, fans and contest officials, we also expect the same from our fans. Success and pride come from competing the right way. In closing, NDCL is a very special place with a great athletic tradition that I, along with the Athletic Department team, are proud to be a part of on a daily basis. Go Lions!
