A Letter from the SND USA Provincial Team

LETTER FROM SND USA PROVINCIAL TEAM

Dear Friends,

We hope you are enjoying a wonderful fall season – whether amid the colorful splash of reds, oranges and yellows of the sugar maple and oak trees in Ohio and Kentucky, or the rugged ginkgo trees in California. The beauty of nature truly reflects our loving God.

In this issue of SND USA, we shine the spotlight on our national ministry focus of Justice, Peace & Integrity of Creation (JPIC) through the lens of the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching. The Sisters of Notre Dame are actively involved in various ministries across the country that address many of these principles. This thought-provoking summary provides insights into Christian discipleship today within the context of what Jesus preached.

One new program spearheaded by the SND JPIC Office is Voter Voice, which educates the sisters and SND Associates about specific issues at the state or federal level using Catholic Social Teaching as the lens through which to view the impact of legislation. They are encouraged to send letters to their legislators about a particular bill in the hopes of effecting positive change.

Readers also hear from SND Associate Sharon Harris, a member of the JPIC committee in Covington, Kentucky. She works with the homeless and helps to educate others on the need for prayer and education while working to change policies which negatively affect the most vulnerable populations and ensure all are treated with dignity and respect.

We hope you will enjoy this issue of SND USA and our spotlight on this national ministry focus. Thank you for your continued participation in our mission, and for your prayers as we continue to serve women, children, the elderly and marginalized persons across the United States.

Gratefully,

The SND USA Provincial Team
