Sept. 6, 2022 WAYNE COUNTY - The first Wayne County Commission meeting for the month of September was held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, due to the Labor Day holiday. Commissioners Blackburn, Wood and Brian were in attendance. The agenda was accepted and approved, with the addition of the maintenance of lawn care throughout Wayne County. The minutes from the commission meeting held on August 15th was accepted and approved. The first order of business was presented by Brent Schmidt, who is the Administrator/CEO at Sevier Valley Hospital, which is located in Richfield, Utah. Sevier Valley Hospital offers healthcare to the rural communities of Sevier, Wayne and Piute Counties. The hospital is part of the Intermountain Healthcare system. Red Canyon Bike Path Temporary Closure Rescheduled, Sept. 8 - 22

An approximately 2-mile segment of the Bike Path in Red Canyon will be closed for asphalt repairs until approximately September 22, 2022. DIXIE N.F. - Beginning on Thursday, September 8, 2022, an approximately 2-mile segment of the Bike Path in Red Canyon will be closed for asphalt repairs. The path will remain closed until approximately September 22, 2022. In 2021, the Dixie National Forest received funding through the Great American Outdoors Act to make needed repairs on the multiuse path in Red Canyon. Over the more than 20-year life of the path, portions have been damaged due to various reasons. The section of the path from the top of Red Canyon to the parking area at Tubing

Hill (south side of Highway 12 at the intersection of Highway 12 and Forest Service Road 121) has received the most damage in terms of cracks and separation from freeze/thaw cycles and other issues. Several sections of asphalt on the path will be cut out, base material will be replaced and recompacted, and then repaved with new asphalt. Due to the location of the path, it will be necessary to close that portion of the path for public safety and to allow for equipment access.
