Full Moons Have Names by Torrey Dark Skies
Scott T. Smith
Depending on the time of year, the full moon can go by many names. In North America, we are most familiar with full moon names coming from the cultures of native peoples. TORREY - An inspiration for artists, musicians, poets, and lovers, the full moon enchants us like almost nothing else. Every month, we witness the moon’s transformation from new to full and back again. Every 29.5 days, the moon’s orbit takes it to the side of Earth directly opposite the sun, where it reflects the sun's rays from its full face and appears as an opalescent, perfectly round disk. Across the ages, human beings watched the night sky in order to determine when to hunt, plant, and harvest. And, all over the world, cultures have given full moons names based on the behavior

January’s moon, The "Wolf Moon," is given that name from the howling of hungry wolves. We know wolves also howl to define territory, locate pack members, and gather for hunting. Other January moon names include "Ice Moon" and "Spirit Moon." The "Snow Moon" of February is named for typiFull Moons

Work will be completed by a local contractor and affect public access to the dike. “Replacing the spillway is the key element of this project,” explained Richard Hepworth, Aquatics Program Navajo Lake Cont'd on page 2

Boulder Town Council by Tessa Barkan
Sept. 2022 BOULDER - The September Boulder Town Council (TC) meeting began with a discussion on prayer. It is legal to have prayer at public meetings in the state of Utah. It was discussed whether it could be called reverence instead of prayer to be more inclusive, and it was stated that some have said that it’s an unnecessary conflict to include it in the meeting. They decided that TC members and members of the public who want to join may have a prayer before the meeting starts in the hallway, with the door open. A public hearing was held on Ordinance 2022-3, Allowing Electronic Meetings. This ordinance aligns with changes in the legislature and formilizes practices that the Town Council has already been doing. One member of the public asked if it could be added that physical attendance is preferred or encouraged, and that it’s like there are two meetings happening at once between the virtual and in-person meetings. The TC discussed. They were uncertain if preferences

Happiness is like a butterfly; the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.
