GARFIELD COUNTY Ticaboo in Garfield County is offering a new adventurous excursion called the “Cass Hite Sojourn” this summer, an exciting descent into Ticaboo Canyon following in the footsteps of local legend, Cass Hite. Garkane Energy Wins Gold Again PORTLAND, OR - Garkane Energy recently received recognition in the 2016 “Spotlight on Excellence” national awards program, sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), based in Arlington, VA. Garkane received multiple awards this year, winning Gold for Best Annual Report, and Best Graphic Design. It also won the Silver award for best Wildcard entry. These awards led them to win the highest rated award in their category for Best Total Communication Program for its 2015 People Behind the Power campaign. This is the second year in a row that Garkane has won the Best Total Communication Program award. Electric cooperative communicators and marketing professionals submitted more than 730 entries in the Spotlight on Excellence program, now in its 28th year. Faculty members from the University of Missouri – Columbia and University of South Carolina, as well as noted professionals in the fields of marketing and videography judged the event, which uses a finite scoring system to determine the winners. Gypsy Jazz Trio Kicks Off Free Guitar Concert Series

Guitar Concerts Scheduled for Escalante and Boulder in August TEASDALE - An evening of Gypsy Jazz by Hot House West Trio will kick off Utah Classical Guitar's season of free concerts at 7:00PM, Friday, June 3, at the DUP School House on Main Street, Torrey. The trio is the rhythm section of Hot House West, the premier gypsy jazz band in the American West. The evening will feature popular melodies in the hard driving swing style popularized in Paris in the 1930s. The group features Nathan Royal on lead guitar, James Martak on rhythm guitar, and Kevin Schultz on bass. They are graduates of the University of Utah's Jazz Performance program. The 17-member team spent six days filling five 30-foot long dumpsters with debris that had been accumulating for years – decayed wood, brittle PVC pipe, moldy insulation, broken skylights, roofing supplies, and more.
