WAYNE & GARFIELD COUNTIES - Garkane Energy wants to make it simple for you to save money on your electric bill. Garkane held a public meeting introducing HalfPrice Power to the residents of Wayne County on Wednesday, Jan. 13th. The Half-Price Power program provides members with a choice. Members who are willing to reduce consumption during high-peak demand periods are able to enjoy half-price power when they sign up for this program. This peak time occurs on the
Garkane system between 6:00 – 11:00 a.m. from October to March. During these peak times, electricity costs 9¢ per kWh, but for the remaining 19 hours in the day, electricity only costs 4.5¢ per kWh. If your time schedule allows you to use most of your energy during off-peak hours during these months, you could save money. Installing appliance timers may make it more convenient to participate and save money. Benefits of the Half Price Power program: • Shifting your on-
peak usage to off-peak times will keep your rates low • Supports environmental stewardship • Enables you and the Cooperative to save money Directors that cover the Wayne and Sevier county areas were strong advocates of this program. LaDon Torgersen, Chad Williams, and Tracy Potter are very pleased that Garkane is bringing an additional program to help the residents of Wayne and Sevier County save money on their power bill. Even if you missed the
meeting, you can still sign up for the program. Visit www. garkaneenergy.com and click the tab labeled Half-Price Power. The on-and-off peak hour’s change in the Summer time, so if you sign up for this program, please be aware of the time changes that occur in April. The base rate on this program is $27, compared to the normal base rate of $22. For any questions please email nbrown@garkaneenergy.com or call 435-644-5026 —Garkane Energy

PANGUITCH - Two major health organizations, iVantageHealth Analytics and NOSORH (National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health) recently honored rural hospitals across the country with the “National Rural Health Day Performance Leadership Award .” One of the hospitals they selected to receive this award is Garfield Memorial Hospital, which was found to have performed in the top quartile in two categories nationally: Quality and Patient Satisfaction. The awards are based on findings from the iVantage Hospital Strength Index which captures performance metrics from more than 4,000 acute care hospitals and more than 1,300 rural and Critical Access Hospitals. Facilities selected for the award were top quartile
performers in one or more of four categories. Alberto Vasquez, Administrator for Garfield Memorial Hospital, says, “I am especially proud of this award because it shows not only our excellence in providing the very best care, but achieving this in a rural area. Those of us who have lived in rural areas understand the inherent challenges that come from that, and some of the additional difficulties that can come from not being as close to resources and support. So we’re thrilled to receive this award, and are very proud of our outstanding staff and the exceptional care we are able to provide at Garfield Memorial Hospital.” —Garfield Memorial Hospital
