To this end, each production entered is eligible for a response by a regional KCACTF representative, and selected students and faculty are invited to participate in KCACTF programs involving scholarships, internships, grants and awards for actors, directors, dramaturgs, playwrights, designers, stage managers and critics at both the regional and national levels. Productions entered on the Participating level are eligible for invitation to the KCACTF regional festival and may also be considered for national awards recognizing outstanding achievement in production, design, direction and performance. Last year more than 1,500 productions were entered in the KCACTF involving more than 200,000 students nationwide. By entering this production, our theater department is sharing in the KCACTF goals to recognize, reward, and celebrate the exemplary work produced in college and university theaters across the nation. A NOTE FROM THE PLAYWRIGHT VICTORIA KANN It is truly an honor to have Pinkalicious travel all the way from her home in Pinkville to your theater! The story of Pinkalicious was inspired by my daughters who love cupcakes and the color pink and never seem to get enough of either one. I initially wrote it as an April Fools’ joke and emailed it to my friends and family telling everyone that my daughter had turned pink after eating too many pink cupcakes. Some folks who knew just how much my daughter loved the color pink and pink cupcakes were very, very concerned. After a little prodding from the recipients of the email I rewrote the story with my sister, Elizabeth Kann and then I illustrated it. It became the picture book, Pinkalicious. We then wrote the musical which premiered Off Broadway to sold out shows. The musical is STILL going strong and is now all over the country. Since then I have worked on 18 more Pinkalicious books, including three more picture books, Early Readers, Sticker books, Doodle books as well as dolls, party goods, clothing and games! If you enjoy the show you can let Pinkalicious know on her Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pinkalicious You can also find lots of games and activities on the web site: http://www.thinkpinkalicious.com. Thanks again and hope you have a PINKATASTIC time!
