On the early morning of 7 September, set sail from Malta aboard the ferry to Sicily, with the sun rising behind and a sense of adventure ahead. At 06:30, the journey begins, and by 08:15, arrive at the port of Pozzallo, where a private coach awaits to take you through the heart of Sicily.
First stop is the elegant town of Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its golden baroque architecture. Here, pause for a traditional Sicilian breakfast, soaking in the atmosphere of the charming streets.
Head inland to the majestic Gole dell’Alcantara, a natural wonder carved out by ancient lava flows. For the adventurous, a range of optional activities await from body rafting and river trekking to quad biking and horse riding perfect for those who want to feel the pulse of Sicily in action.
By lunchtime, make your way to the slopes of Mount Etna for a sensory feast at Fratelli Gambino Winery. In a scenic setting surrounded by vineyards and indulge in a light but rich Sicilian lunch: Think aged cheeses, artisan salumi, grilled sausage with roasted potatoes, couscous with seasonal vegetables, and a sweet ricotta-filled cannolo to finish all accompanied by four tastings of locally produced wines. Pure bliss.
In the afternoon, check in at the tranquil Mare Neve Resort in Linguaglossa, nestled in nature. After some well-earned relaxation, gather once more for a delicious dinner at the hotel, reflecting on a day full of flavors and discovery.
The next morning, 8 September, begins with a leisurely breakfast before we head to the coastal gem of Ortigia, the old town of Syracuse. Strolling through Ortigia’s narrow streets, vibrant market stalls, and waterfront views is like stepping into a living postcard.
Lunch is at your own pace, and we recommend the Ortigia Fish Market, where fresh seafood and local specialties abound.
As the day winds down, return to Pozzallo by 18:00, ready to board the evening ferry. With hearts full of memories, by 20:45, arrive home sunkissed, well-fed, and inspired by Sicily’s timeless beauty.
