Northern Cyprus is a hidden gem of the Mediterranean; unspoiled landscapes, beautiful sandy beaches and ancient monuments combined with friendly locals and the possibility of many activities guarantee a perfect holiday.

The landscape of Northern Cyprus is a unique blend of mountains, plains and beaches. The most striking feature is the narrow ridge of mountains that runs along the northern coast - the Kyrenia Mountains. Towards the south, the terrain changes to the fertile plain of Mesaoria with the divided capital of Nicosia (Lefkosa in Turkish), to the east the island juts out into the long Karpas peninsula with the most beautiful beaches of Cyprus. Northern Cyprus is probably the last area in Europe where you can find beautiful long sandy beaches without big hotels and with a minimum of tourists.

North Cyprus inspired writers like Shakespeare and Durrell throughout the ages. Many visitors fall in love with its unique ambience and find themselves returning year after year to explore its rich and diverse history, landscape, culture, relaxing pace of life and quite simply gorgeous island climate and people.

KYRENIA

A picturesque port with a population of just 22,000, is the most popular tourist destination in North Cyprus. A Venetian harbour town in the past, it is backed by the dramatic wooded hills of Beşparmak Mountains and the castle that guards the harbour. A short drive to the east of Kyrenia and nestling in the foothills of the mountains is the village of Bellapais. It is here that the most beautiful and serene of all the ancient sites on the whole island are to be found. The Gothic Abbey of Bellapais has stood on a rocky promontory since the 12th Century and apart from the ravages wrought by time and man, it has changed very little. To the east and west of Kyrenia, there are some of the finest beaches for sand lovers, some of which are well developed cosmopolitan venues with good restaurants and water sports, while others are more peaceful and remote. Kyrenia is surrounded by beautiful nature, suitable for walking and cycling trips.

ISKELE

İskele is settled at the joint point of Famagusta-Karpasia main road and ErcanKarpasia Main road. It is well known with its coastline in which the green dances with blue harmoniously. The district’s name was Trikomo until 1974 and it is still termed with this name by numerous people. At 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, Larnaca Turkish Community had immigrated from South to North and they were settled to this coastline, and from that date, the region was named as İskele. As from 1st of June, district number in TRNC was increased from 3 to 5, and İskele was declared as a district. There are 43 accommodation units in İskele. The population of the district is 20,245. Inhabitants make a living by tourism, civil services, labor, farming, fishing and crafting. Iskele is most popular for its golden beaches. Long Beach is one of the most visited beaches in Cyprus. It stretches kilometer after kilometer along the coast.

FAMAGUSTA

Located on the east coast of North Cyprus, Famagusta is known for its preserved 15th and 16th century Venetian walls surrounding the old city. There are plenty of medieval and renaissance buildings that can be visited, most of which damaged during the Turkish siege of the city in 1571. When strolling around the old town, one can admire something of interest in almost every corner. The southern part of the modern city (internationally known as Varosha) has been closed to public following the international division in the last century.
