On Costa ships, there are no clients... there are guests. And who knows hospitality better than the Italians? It’s in every service that Costa offers, with a genuine smile and the constant desire to meet all of your needs. It’s not so much Costa ability to resolve small problems, but the attention to detail and the personal touch in their way of handling things that makes all the difference. The crews on Costa ships are made up of professionals from over 70 countries worldwide who speak 35 different languages, but above all know how to listen and find a solution to every requirement. All with the friendly smile and good-humored nature of those who know how to get things done. In addition to being carefully selected for these specific qualities, all Costar on-board personnel continue to undergo specialised training throughout the course of their careers. The promise that lies behind each smile that you’ll see on-board is the following: “I’m here for you, ready to anticipate and satisfy your every need with an unmistakably Italian style, all with courtesy, dedication, and attention to detail.” Welcome aboard! 2

Have a great time, we’ll do the rest. Guaranteed fun for everyone. A Costa cruise is a great occasion to try new things, like language courses, cooking demonstrations, or yoga and dance lessons, all accompanied by Costa skilled professional instructors, who know how to get even the most reluctant guests involved, and will be sure to bring a smile to every new experience that you decide to take part in. Fitness enthusiasts can keep in shape at the well-equipped gym, or go for a scenic jog on the decks overlooking the sea. And the fun really gets going after sunset. Various themed nights will keep you entertained through the whole cruise. Those who just want to relax, on the other hand, can sit back in comfort to enjoy a chat with old friends and new acquaintances at any one of the ship’s various bars, cafés or lounges, where Costa courteous staff will be sure to cater to your every need.

Barcelona
The vibrant city of Barcelona is always a pleasant experience. The beautiful unfinished Sagrada Familia church, the Ramblas, bustling with activity, the modern skyscrapers and the infinity of shops makes exploring Barcelona a must. When Hans Christian Andersen visited in 1862, he remarked that Barcelona was the “Paris of Spain.” You are likely to agree. The city is a major cultural centre with a fascinating history. Everywhere one finds archives, libraries, museums and buildings of interest - plus superb examples of modernist and Art Nouveau décor and architecture.
Marseille
The port city of Marseille is the third largest city in France and here modern style meets history. The bay, flanked by Fort Saint-Nicolas, and Fort Saint-Jean shelters the Castle of If, of Count of Monte Cristo fame. The city is watched over by the basilica Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde and offers a large pedestrian zone filled with department stores, shopping areas (including the colourful French-African quarter) and a mix with historical sites. Founded 2600 years ago, the oldest city in France combines the richness of a unique heritage, an intense cultural life and an exceptional location. Sometimes affectionate, sometimes rebellious, she loves to seduce the visitor who cannot resist the charm of 111 different districts, the mild climate and the secrets of its gastronomy. It is a port city with a strong identity, and has also kept abreast of the changes throughout time to become an important capital of the Mediterranean Basin open to the world.
Savona
This northern province of the Liguria Region forms the north shore of the Italian Riviera. Savona province was once known as a very important centre of iron and brass working for many centuries. Today the main industry is tourism, with many thousands of sun-worshippers visiting the local beaches every year. The capital city, Savona, is a port that has been a rival of Genoa since the middle-ages. It was, in fact, all but destroyed several times with the harbour blocked by sunken ships. The city was also bombed during World War II and suffered a great deal of damage. However, despite all of this, the city is now one of Italy’s largest ports and exports many products to both the UK and the US including, amongst other things, Italian cars. Away from the port, the medieval centre is still intact. The main focus is on the impressive Priamàr fortress. This vast stronghold overlooks the sea and was built in the 16th century by the Genoese.
Naples
Naples is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. It has a great bay with nice views of Capri which is just a short boat ride away. In the old district of Naples, you’ll see the most typical sights of the the city which has a long history. It has survived many blazes, air raids and earthquakes, and the best of all is that it has not lost its picturesque ambient. There are many fascinating places in this truly unique city. Don’t be surprised if you find a wonderful church next to a wretched house. That’s what gives this city its special flavor.
Palermo
Drenched in sunshine all year round, in a natural harbour, nestled comfortably into the coastline of the Conca d’Oro (“Golden Valley” or “horn of plenty”) surrounded in verdant scenery and cocooned in mountains culminating in the peak of Mount Pellegrino (the Pilgrim Mountain) lies the stupendous city of Palermo. It was once completely cultivated into citrus groves and plantations, but with urban growth and development, many sadly have disappeared. Notwithstanding, Palermo is renowned for its marvellous lemons and oranges, which though perhaps fewer in quantity than in years past, are still of outstanding quality. Palermo’s strength is in its beauty and civilisation more than its defensibility or military tradition. Completely accessible by sea, and situated in a valley, it has always been a target for invaders and an obvious foothold into Italy. Thus it has become one of the most conquered and occupied cities in the world.
