SCTP NEWS There are no benchwarmers in the SCTP! Happy New Year Coaches and Teams. January through April is a busy time of the shooting season for SCTP teams in Florida; from practices, scored shoots, fun shoots and tournaments. Saltwater’s 3rd Annual Winter Warm up, 100 target sporting clays is scheduled for January 13, 2024 at Saltwater Shooting Club 900 Big Oak Rd. St. Augustine, Fl. 32095. The SCTP and ACUI (Association of College Unions International) 2023-2024 shooting season kicked off in October and are enjoying both the collegiate and National Group Competitions here in Florida. Say hello to them when you see them with their vest on at local monthly shoots throughout Florida.
On Saturday December 2, 2023 Blackjack Smokin Aces hosted the Annual “Blackjack Reindeer Classic” at Blackjack Sporting Clays in Sumterville, Florida. The shoot was a shotgun start for 62 shooters participating from 9 teams. Thanks to the Blackjack Staff that presented some great target presentations for the shooters to be challenged with and enjoyed. Feb 22 - 25, 2024 the Florida Challenge at Bradford Sportsmen's Farm Special Thanks to all the NSCA, NSSA and ATA Clubs in Florida for supporting our youth shooters by helping grow, develop and being involve with these young adults at your clubs. These clubs help develop and grow the shooting sports by introducing men, women and youth shooters to our sport through fundraisers, monthly shoots and supporting youth shooting programs like Scholastic Clay Target Programs (SCTP). From the Editor I want to thank the Santa Rosa team for their pictures this month. As you can see they made the cover of the newsletter. Please feel free to send pictures and stories to Wendell, Joey, and myself. I will do my best to feature every team that participates. I would like to start a For Sale section for this newsletter. Kids grow out of their Youth guns and move up to higher quality and better fitting equipment. Guns and stocks that your Youth shooters have outgrown will be featured in this section. The SANTA ROSA SQUAD currently has 8 members. On our cover are the five who participated in the Jingle Bells tournament. For two of them it was their first competition. The program is just over one year old. Their head coach is Richard Marsden.

Limited Opportunity SCTP Winchester Ammo Orders
*Attention college coaches attending the 2024 ACUI Nationals For ammunition orders specifically intended for ACUI/SCTP Nationals in San Antonio, March 18-23rd, you will receive a separate Winchester order form from ACUI representatives so that those orders can be organized and shipped to the National Shooting Complex. Starting today, Friday December 1st, and running through, January 15th, 2024 (or until allocations have been met) SCTP registered teams will be able to order from a select number of SKUs of Winchester AA, Super Target, Browning and Browning BIO ammunition! Additionally, Red Diamond Sponsor, Winchester will also be doing a 20% off in the Winchester Gear Store for SCTP members! Discount Code WINSCTP20 - valid during the previously mentioned promotional period. PLEASE read ALL the information provided.
1.) You must be a current SCTP Registered Team with athletes!
2.) All orders must be accompanied by credit card or check, NO exceptions!
3.) If your team still owes sales tax from last year, you must have that paid and cleared before placing an order this year!
4.) All orders are “plus tax” and that tax is derived from the “SHIP TO ADDRESS”!
5.) All orders are on a first come first served basis and will be prioritized by when they are received. Any orders with credit cards declined or checks with insufficient funds will be discarded and canceled! 6.) Orders must be a minimum of 1 pallet. The only exception will be for orders being picked up in Burlington, WI. Prior approval must be obtained before those orders may be placed. Any other use of this ammo or sale of it to the general public, a gun club or another youth program is strictly prohibited! Teams violating this will be removed from any future ammunition orders through the SCTP’s Ammo buying program of Winchester ammunition!
8.) Ammunition will be shipped immediately once approved and prepaid, with most orders submitted later in the promotion period shipping by February 15th.
9.) California teams must include their AVL with order, no exceptions! All orders are “pre-paid”!
About the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation
The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF) is 501(c)(3) public charity responsible for all aspects of the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) across the United States. The SCTP and SASP are youth development programs in which adult coaches and other volunteers use shooting sports to teach and to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and other positive life skills. The mission of the SSSF is to provide and enhance personal growth and development opportunities for student athlete members; become the premier authority in all things pertaining to firearm-related pursuits for youth; pass on to future generations the legacy of lifelong, safe, responsible enjoyment of the shooting sports. This includes serving as a feeder/pipeline for organized, sanctioned shooting organizations and teams. 21

Teams can register for any day and shoot on any day during the competition window 2/4/24 - 3/2/24. You do not need to sign up for the day you are shooting for virtuals only. Scoring information and file will be sent out to teams after registration closes and the match must be scored in Practiscore.

If any teams ever want to come to Tampa Bay Sporting Clays and shoot the international bunker with the Tampa Bay Clays we would welcome that. We hold practices on Sundays from 11AM to 2PM. We will be glad to assist in coaching the shooters on how to shoot the international bunker as well. All we ask is that you please let us know in advance that you are coming as we wouldn’t want you to show up and nobody be there.
