In Occupied Paris of 1942, Mr. Klein exploits the situation of the Jews by buying and selling their works of art. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19, 7:00 In Person: Filmmakers HARRY CHUCK & JOSHUA CHUCK Chinatown Rising is a documentary film about the Asian-American Movement from the perspective of the young residents on the front lines of their historic neighborhood in transition. In total, collecting more than 10 hours of film, Harry Chuck's exquisite unreleased footage has captured a divided community's struggles for self-determination. OPENS DECEMBER 20 Michael Apted’s evolving masterwork, the Up series, has now reached its ninth installation: 63 Up. Unique in the annals of cinema and cultural history, 7 Up was created for British television in 1964, intended as a program that looked at education in the class system in England. Apted revisited the group of young people he documented at that time every seven years – with varying degrees of cooperation as these kids grew up.

OPENS DECEMBER 20 Based on real events, from writer-director Terrence Malick, A Hidden Life is the story of an unsung hero, Franz Jägerstätter, who refused to fight for the Nazis in World War II. SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22, NOON Tchaikovsky's glittering score, the gorgeous festive stage designs, and The Royal Ballet's captivating dancing makes for a magical adventure on Christmas Eve for Clara and her Nutcracker doll. Their journey to the Land of Sweets creates some of the most familiar ballet moments, such as the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and the “Waltz of the Flowers.” Recorded in 2016, Peter Wright’s choreography keeps true to the spirit of this Russian ballet classic, making this Nutcracker the quintessential Christmas experience.
