The 114th Philippine Independence Day Celebration in Carson An all-day festival featuring non-stop cultural and patriotic performances and various entertainment for the entire family will mark the 111th anniversary of Philippine Independence Day. The event will take place on Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the Veterans Park, located at 22400 Moneta Avenue in Carson. The celebration is open to the public and admission is free. Non-stop entertainment will begin at 8 a.m. featuring big names in the Filipino pop music industry, local bands and cultural groups. Sporting events, a historical reenactment and the traditional Santa Cruzan as well as food and display booths and a children’s game area are also lined up for the event’s special features. Home to more than 20,000 Filipinos, Carson’s annual Philippine Independence Day Celebration draws thousands of both Filipinos and non-Filipinos of all ages from all over Southern California. The event is a commemoration of the independence of the Philippines from the Spanish government who ruled the island nation for over 400 years.
