HOW TO BECOME A MIX MASTER Not sure where to start when mixing color and pattern? Start with a pattern or palette you love, whether that's a photograph, wallpaper, fabric, rug, pillow, or piece of art.

The breezy bedroom above started with SmithHönig's Moroccan Knot wallpaper. This super easy peel and stick features a Moorish pattern in shades of turquoise, periwinkle, lavender, coral and red.

Look closely at a pattern you love. Find less obvious colors and use them to dive deeper into your design inspiration. Consider adding pillows, ceramics, baskets or painted furniture in the shades you find.

Now - are you- ready to jump into the deep end? Add more pattern? Yes , please! Coastal maximalism means more is definitely more. The most important thing to keep in mind when mixing patterns is to vary the scale and shapes. A rug in a bold stripe of coral and white? A pillow in a smaller plaid?

The first rule of maximalism, though? No rules! Find things you adore and take them home! You'll find the perfect spot.

AN UNEXPECTED COASTAL COLOR PALETTE Sunny and bright, this mix of teal, purple, orange and gold will enliven your beach cottage or turn your new build in the the 'burbs into a vintagestyle bungalow.

VINTAGE ECLECTIC WITH JESS REY When you think “something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” you might not think of a playroom, but then, you’re not Jess Rey. Rey, the author/designer behind Domicile 37, is known for her eclectic style, highdesign DIY and secondhand shopping tips.

Here she turned a dark space into a room that fits her family, turning it bright and light and into a combination guest room/playroom, by layering old and new pieces.

The walls are soft blue - Benjamin Moore's Pale Smoke.

She used SmithHönig's Obi Rose pillow, a luxe velvet featuring a designer-worthy vegan insert, and brass topped silk tassels on the campaign-inspired storage unit.

Not only did she build the storage unit and daybed herself, she also replaced the batting, upholstery and some of the piping on the vintage sofa in the room.

Her unique style —and her willingness to mix luxe, handmade and bargain finds — is on display throughout the space.

A VINTAGE INN ON A SECLUDED GEORGIA ISLAND Greyfield Inn is still a family home, filled with books and art handed down for generations, antique rugs, upholstered furniture, huge seashells and turtle skeletons that have washed ashore.

FAVORITE SUMMER REFRESHERS Paleteria Spritzer Pick up some popsicles in unique flavors from your local paleteria, or make your own. Our favorites are limón (lime), zaramora (blackberry) and sandia (watermelon).

Definitely experiment to find your own favorite! Next, pour your favorite sparkling wine (we love La Marca Prosecco) into a stemmed glass. Insert a popsicle into the prosecco.

Delish - and so much fun at an outdoor party.

Spicy Grapefruit Margarita Juice of one lime Juice of 1/2 large grapefruit Thin slice of fresh jalapeño Patrón Tequila Splash of simple syrup Chili Powder Salt Rim chilled glasses with a mixture of chili powder and salt.

Shake lime juice, simple syrup and jalapeño slice. Muddle the jalapeño to release more heat. Pour in tequila and grapefruit juice and shake with ice. Pour. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit. Makes one cocktail.

Cucumber Cooler Mix freshly squeezed lemon juice with a pinch of sea salt in a glass. Fill glass with prosecco. Garnish with a peeled cucumber spear and optional fresh mint leaves. Sip generously.
