CELEBRATE: ALUMNAE/I IN THE NEWS Smithies take home top honors at NASW Massachusetts Chapter Symposium Dean Marianne Yoshioka, representatives of the Office of Alumni Relations, faculty, colleagues and friends were in attendance at the NASW, Massachusetts Chapter Symposium Awards Luncheon on April 7 when Michael Hubner, AB'69, MSW'80 was honored with the Greatest Contribution to Social Work Practice Award. Also honored at the event, Professor Kathryn Basham, PhD'90, received the Greatest Contribution to Social Work Education Award.

SMITHIES represent at Division 39 Annual Spring Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia Carter Carter, current doctoral student, Courtney Tucker A'17 and Sarah Blair Jenkins A'17 had the opportunity to represent the Smith College School for Social Work as both doctoral and masters levels students and Division 39 Scholars at the Division 39 Annual Spring Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. The Division 39 Scholars Program is an opportunity for graduate students and early career professionals across a wide variety of mental health disciplines to experience the mentorship, scholarship, and resources available within the psychoanalytic community. Division 39-a faction of the American Psychological Association is completely devoted to psychoanalysis. Its members and their work reflect past and current theory, research, and practice. Division 39 is composed of various committees and sections devoted to particular

psychoanalytic fields of thought, including the Multicultural Concerns Committee, Sexualities and Gender Identities Committee, Section VIII: Couples and Family Therapy, International Relations Committee, and a Research Committee. During the Annual Spring Meeting, these various committees and sections host panels, lectures, and discussions to reflect the variety of interests held by Division 39 members.

Courtney and Carter were Multicultural Concerns Committee Scholars. Sarah was a Section VIII: Couples and Family Therapy Scholar. The prestigious scholarship included a $500 stipend to attend the annual conference, a year's membership for Division 39 and respective section, an assigned mentor, as well as opportunities to remain involved in the psychoanalytic community throughout the year. This opportunity is intended to foster deeper intellectual curiosity into psychoanalytic thought and practice, as well as foster the growth of the next generation of psychoanalysis. Congratulations Carter, Courtney and Sarah!

The Professional Education Seminar curriculum includes many courses on a wide range of topics. Courses provide participants with opportunities to increase knowledge and skills through a concentrated period of study.
