A Message from the CEO “Win With Strengths” In Jack Welch’s book Winning, he presents his framework for evaluating talented people and claims to have spent 50 percent of his time assessing talent. This may seem excessive by the standards of the business world, but think about it, how do you build a team with productivity and profit in mind? To build this type of team, you must make sure that the people working on that team have all the following components necessary for success: • Positive Energy - We need people who bring positive energy to the room. We want people who brighten the day and bring a sense of well-being to work, play and life in general. • Ability to Energize Other People - A positive outlook and upbeat behavior inspire other people. People with this attitude attract other people teammates, customers, and managers - to the cause. • Edge - The courage to make tough yes-or-no decisions. The world may be gray, but at the end of the business day, is the person willing to provide blackor-white clarity to the team? • Execute - The ability to get the job done. • Passion - By passion, I mean a heartfelt, deep, and authentic excitement about work. People with passion care - really care in their bones about colleagues, employees, and friends winning. They love to learn and grow, and they get a huge kick when the people around them do the same. • Sorting People - Not necessarily instructing them. Rather than attempting to alter nonconforming temperaments. When we look for new team members, these are the traits we are looking for because time has shown these are the people who work well within our company. When you are looking at people to join your team, evaluate them and see do they have what it takes, do they have these traits, if yes RECRUIT THEM!
