WELCOME TO THE LARGEST CHANNEL EVENT OF THE YEAR. SANJAY MOHAPATRA

The biggest channel event of 2018 is here in New Delhi. 100 Partners representing various regions of the country and various specializations converging in the city of Delhi, hotel of Shangri-La on 5th October 2018. It is a spectacle to watch these growing companies. Who says the channel business is not doing good! These partners who are coming from 25 cities representation each region of the country – North, South East and West, are growing their revenue and net profit year on year.

Remember: these partners are not box movers. Everyone is specialized in some solutions. The statistics says that maximum number partners are specialized in security followed by infrastructure, cloud, networking and mobility. IOT and Big Data specialization are found to be very less. But the biggest realization is that the partner ecosystems has understood the value of solution business and they have also realized that third platform is going to at the forefront of investment by the customers; therefore, they need to invest their resources and money on development capability around these technologies.

Our survey has shown that companies who have been early adopter of the solution business have grown 50 % and partner who have adopted purely play cloud and application business have doubled their revenue in last three years. The other typical thing is also seen that some partners have gone down in terms of their revenue in last three years by 10-20 % year on year, but their net profit has increased. The product portfolio composition shows that these partners have moved out of their product business gradually year on year and embraced solution business and have therefore, booked better net profit while their revenue has gone down. Of course, percentage of these companies is very less.

However, the convergence of these partners is a strong indication of the changing channel mood and sentiment that they want to drive change and align with the digitization of the country.

Fortinet Signs Cyber Threat Information Sharing Agreement with IBM Fortinet is collaborating with IBM Security through the bi-directional sharing of cyber threat information.

The goal of the agreement is to proactively combat cyberthreats and threats to privacy globally through the sharing of contextual threat information generated by the Fortinet FortiGuard Labs threat research team and IBM Security’s X-Force research team.

IBM Security and Fortinet will directly collaborate through bi-directional sharing of threat intelligence using secure channels. Joint threat information sharing will deliver deep security research expertise and global threat intelligence for increased protection for the customers of each company.

IBM Security and Fortinet global threat research teams monitor and analyze security threats from a variety

Epson’s Global Printer Sales cross 30 Mn mark The cumulative global sales of Epson’s high-capacity InkTank inkjet printers have crossed 30 million units. In India alone, Epson has sold in excess of 2.5 million InkTank printers since its launch in 2011.

As per IDC’s Hard Copy Peripherals (HCP) Quarterly market report (2018 Q2), Epson sold 201,565 inkjet printers in Q2 2018 to lead the market. Epson captured 47.7% of the Inkjet market by volume and 56.9% in value, while HP followed with a volume market share of 32.4 % and value share of 25.6%. Canon lagged behind at 18.3% volume share. Epson has been the leader in the Inkjet market for a few years now.

Epson InkTank Inkjet Printers Achieve Cumulative Global Sales of 30 Million Units Epson has revealed that the cumulative global sales of its high-capacity InkTank inkjet printers have crossed 30 million units. In India alone, Epson has sold in excess of 2.5 million InkTank printers since its launch in 2011. Epson also retained its No. 1 spot in the Inkjet printer market (by Volume and Value) for Q2 CY 2018, as per a leading research firm. As per IDC’s Hard Copy Peripherals (HCP) Quarterly market report (2018 Q2), Epson sold 201,565 inkjet printers in Q2 2018 to lead the market. Epson captured 47.7% of the Inkjet market by volume and 56.9% in value, while HP followed with a volume market share of 32.4 % and value share of 25.6%. Canon lagged behind at 18.3% volume share. Epson has been the leader in the Inkjet market for a few years now.

India Smartphone Market grows 20% in Q2 2018: IDC India According to the IDC India’s Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, smartphone companies shipped a total of 33.5 million units to India during the second quarter of 2018 (2Q18), resulting in a healthy 20% year-over-year (YoY) growth. Seqrite Detects 5000 spam Emails everyday carrying in the last one month Underlining the complex and ever-evolving nature of the modern-day threat landscape, Seqrite has recently revealed the developments regarding the Emotet Trojan malware. Security researchers at Seqrite have identified an evolution in the infamous Banking Trojan which wreaked havoc four years ago, tracking its transformation into a complex threat distributor distributing multiple attack payloads.

The Emotet malware campaign has been around for a long while and has continuously utilised different attack techniques and complex variants to compromise the security profile of the victim. Having utilised PDF and JS file attachments in emails to deliver the attack payload in 2017, the recent spread of the Emotet malware has been through MS Office Word documents containing heavily obfuscated macros. Seqrite has successfully detected and blocked more than 1.5 lakh instances of the spam email targeting businesses and individuals in the last one month alone, protecting them through advanced threat detection it utilises for identifying such campaigns.
