TIA WIMBUSH & SUSAN ELLIS

Both of these dear ladies’ husbands needed kidney transplants . Read their amazing story on the next few pages. This story went national.

Two women chatted in a bathroom.

They soon realized that they were a match for the other’s husband, who needed a kidney.

Tia Wimbush and Susan Ellis have been co-workers for a decade, and while they didn’t know each other well , they learned two years ago that their spouses each needed a kidney transplant. Then, in August, something remarkable happened.

The women saw each other in a restroom at work and started chatting

as they washed their hands . They had a lot in common, both working in information technology at a children’s healthcare facility dealing with the same medical stress at home.

Neither was a match to be an organ donor for her own husband , and the transplant waiting lists are impossibly long.

Wimbush casually asked Ellis what her husband’s blood type was. He’s type O, Ellis replied. Wimbush said that her husband was type AB.

The women paused for a moment and looked at each other . Then Wimbush realized they might have

stumbled upon something that might help save both of their husbands’ lives.

Wimbush thought she might be a match for Ellis’ husband , and –

incredibly – she thought Ellis could be a match for her husband.

“I told Susan, ‘ Wait a second –what are the odds that we’re both going through this with our husbands at the same time , and we could also be in a position to help them,’” Wimbush recalled.

“That’s when we both knew: We had to get tested,” she said.

Antibody tests revealed that each woman was an excellent match for the other’s spouse.

So, in March, seven months after that chance conversation, Wimbush donated one of her kidneys to Lance Ellis, 41, and Susan Ellis donated one of hers to Rodney Wimbush, 45.

Both transplants done at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital went so well that the men have almost fully recovered and are going on weekend hikes with friends and family, Tia Wimbush said.

“They’ve

each gained the gift of health and more years – it’s wonderful to see how they now have quality of life after so many years of dialysis treatments,” she said,

his mother in 2017, Susan Ellis said.

But his body rejected it in August 2019, and his name was added to the national kidney transplant waiting list.

Rodney Wimbush , a high school math teacher, had his name added to the list in 2020, when he was diagnosed with kidney failure after several weeks of feeling lethargic and nauseous, Tia Wimbush said.

Patients can wait five years or longer for their name to come up on the national kidney cadaver donor waiting list, according to the American Kidney fund. The women said they were worried that their husbands didn’t have that kind of time.

“When Tia and I got our antibody tests back, and everything was almost 100 percent positive, it was like a validation for us that this was going to work,” Ellis, 42, recalled.

“It was a relief to know that we could each give one of our kidneys and get them off that cycle of dialysis and waiting,” Wimbush, 45, added.

Christina Klein, a nephrologist and medical director of Piedmont’s kidney transplant program , said it is extremely rare for two people to propose their own paired organ exchange and actually be a match for each other.

“I’ve personally never seen this happen,” Klein said.

Once everything was on track, the couples chatted on FaceTime a little bit, Tia Wimbush said, but they weren’t all in the same room until they came to the hospital for a final round of testing a few days before the surgeries.

“You could feel the emotion, but we were all quietly excited to get it over with,” she said.

The four surgeries lasted about three to four hours each and were executed with no complications , according to Clark Kensinger, the surgeon who handled the donor operations.

“Donors are heroes, and this case is especially unique and beautiful , because two wonderful patients

facilitated lifesaving donations simply by sharing their stories with one another ,” he said.

WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

A video of their story made by the hospital where they work has been widely shared on social media.

“It’s really just a story about simple kindness ,” Ellis said. “For us, the kindness came in conversation and in reaching out to a colleague. It started with two people just being good humans. Now we’d like to tell people they can do the same.

Rodney Wimbush said he will be forever grateful that his wife decided to bring up a conversation about blood types in the office restroom last year.

He’s looking ahead to more years with Tia and their two sons , while Lance Ellis said he’s anticipating a more active life with Susan and his two stepdaughters.

“I

feel great

better than I have in the past 10 years , ” he said. “I’m excited about another chance at life.”

Susan and Lance are going to come with us to North Carolina for our son’s first college football game,” Tia said.

“I guess you could say we’ve skipped the friendship. We’re family now.” ===

WHY DO I NEED TO PRAY DAILY?

God tells us to continue to pray (St. Luke 18:1 TLB, Colossians 4:2)

The Holy Scriptures teach us to “… Let your requests be made known to God” (Philippians 4:6).

We don’t stop loving. We don’t stop learning. We take life one day at a time, one step at a time. As we live our lives, we need to include God in our daily walk with the Lord. Satan is at work, continually trying to hold us back from going where God

Continued on next page

wants our lives to go. We only see where we are, but God sees where He is leading us. God gives us our air, one breath at a time. Life is a continuous flow, and so is our spirituality, one day at a time, one hour at a time.

We work very hard and long hours, preparing these free good news books and spending the Church’s donations to pay for the printing of these powerful, anointed, beautiful books that we mail to you as gifts every other month.

We mail these Sunday church sermons to you in a #10 envelope, and

Continued on next page we even pay for the postage for you, so you don’t have to go to the post office to buy postage stamps. All you have to do is take a little time for God and write your prayer requests and mail them to the Church. Just drop your requests into the mail, and the United States postal service employees will get your letter with your prayer needs back to us, here at the Church. Whatever you write to this old Bishop is kept in strict confidence . Your secrets are 100 percent safe with this old Bishop and my dedicated helpers. I am 88, and God has

sent me some wonderful helpers that I trust 100 percent. This is why you need to write your needs on paper, even if you have never written to me before or even if it’s only a note. We read every word you write to us, because you and your family are so important to us here at this old Church. Jesus teaches us to pray over the same needs more than once. Even Jesus, the Son of God, prayed for a blind man, and the blind man only received a portion of his healing. So, Jesus led the blind man outside of

(St. Mark 8:22-28).

Even Jesus had to pray to His Father, God, more than once about the same need. That is why it is important to us for you to write in your own handwriting, telling us how you and your dear family are doing, even if your family members live far away from you. Jog our memories. Don’t worry about your spelling. As we age, we all make errors.

Continued on next page that village and prayed again a second time, and the man received his healing and “his sight was restored”

I know that you are busy living your life, but everyone can take a few minutes for God and yourself and those needs you’re facing – just a little time for God and yourself. Again, as an old church Bishop, I too get busy, but never too busy for God.

Now, something magical and spiritual starts happening when you slow down and pick up a pen and a piece of paper and start writing in your own handwriting what’s troubling you the most, right now. What’s on your mind and is troubling you? Is it your health or finances, or your

family member, or your neighborhood where you live, or is it all of the bad things that are happening in the streets? The television news is mostly bad news. God tells you and me to pray for each other’s needs (James 5:16).

The letter you write to me about your needs is just like we are sitting together in church, and you talking to me as your preacher or pastor. It’s a very sacred time between us. Let me explain it this way. I keep your name, not only at our church, but here in my home, and I feel that I’m on an assignment from God to help you

Continued on next page

more by praying more for you . I sometimes wake up at night, and I start praying for you and your family. I can’t explain it any better than that. It’s no accident that you and I have each other’s name and address . I believe with every fiber of my body that God sent you to me , and I’ve been assigned from heaven to help you more. I need you to jog my memory because, even at 88 my mind is still as sharp as a tack, but my hands are tired sometimes.

If you become so busy that you forget to answer my last letter to you, just check your needs on that prayer page of my letter in your handwriting and drop that letter from your hands in the mail. God is watching that Holy Spirit letter from you, as it makes its way through the mail until it arrives here to me at our address.

So much goodness awaits you.

There is one other thing I wanted to ask. Do you enjoy my gift to you – my books – every other month? It would be

Continued on next page

nice to hear from you if you enjoy my books. Dear friend, I love you through God’s Holy Spirit. I look forward to hearing from you, even if it’s only a note. Don’t forget to take a little time today for your Heavenly Father and His old Church. We’re here for you. ===

The World’s Meanest Thief

The Bible tells us, “Will a man rob God?” (Malachi 3:8). Now, that sounds crazy when you first hear it. First of all, how is a person going to rob God? It sounds like robbing a bank or a place of business, and you can read it in the Holy Scriptures. God explains why He is saying, “Will a man rob God?” Then, the Holy Scripture goes on to explain how this is possible. The full text says, “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ [Then God Says] In tithes and offerings” (Malachi 3:8).

Will A Man Rob

God?

GOD TEACHES US , in the Bible, at Malachi 3:8,10,11:

8 Will a man rob God ? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, “In what way have we robbed You?” In tithes and offerings.

10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house [the Church and for this glorious gospel], and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it .

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes…

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE

HIS EMPLOYER TOLD HIM TO BUILD THE BEST HOME IN THE TOWN

, but the man was stealing and his employer didn’t know about it.

However, the most trusted employee was marking the cost of everything up by 10 percent , and his employer didn’t know it. He was stealing it from the building of that beautiful, new house. Read what happened to that house.

“NEW HOUSE AND A NEW CAR , ALL PAID FOR; THIS IS ALL YOURS ...” HE TOLD HIS TRUSTED EMPLOYEE.

In the natural, it sounds unusual, but

it’s true, and do you know who said this: “Will a man rob God?” God himself said those words to all of us who have ever read the Bible (Malachi 3:8). In reply, the man asked, “In what way have we robbed You?” God said, “In tithes and offerings.”

Let me give you a good example story I heard about a faithful, wealthy man who was going to build a house.

This man had the money to build a beautiful home in the best part of town and wanted this new home to have the best of the best. He wanted it to be the best house he had ever owned, so he called his most trusted employee into

Continued on next page

his office and said (paraphrased), “Ed, you’re my most trusted employee, and you’ve been loyal to me. I want you to oversee the building of this new house, and I want it built in the nicest location in the city. Buy the best materials to build the most beautiful home in this city. I’ll pay for it as you build, and it will be paid in full, 100 percent, by the time you finish. Just ask for the cost to build this special house, and there will be no question about money . It’s at your disposal, because I trust you 100 percent with all of this money it’s going to take to build it.”

So, his most trusted employee found the location and purchased the land, but,

unbeknown to his employer, he marked up the cost of the land by 10 percent, and unbeknown to his employer, he put the 10 percent overcharge into his own personal pocket. Then, as he paid all of the workers who built the house, he marked up their salaries an extra 10 percent and put that money into his own pocket too.

Still his employer didn’t know because he completely trusted this longtime employee.

When the house was completely built, his employer said, “Now, buy the best furniture that money can buy,” and that trusted employee marked up

Continued on next page

the cost of the furniture by 10 percent too and put it into his pocket . His employer never knew that his best man was stealing 10 percent on everything.

To cap it off, the employer said to his trusted employee, “Buy a new Cadillac car and put it in the triple-car garage,” and the employee marked up the price of the car by 10 percent. This trusted employee was stealing 10 percent of everything.

His employer trusted him and loved him as a loyal employee and friend.

The great day came when the employer arrived, in person, at this newly built, fully furnished house and

Continued on next page the new car in the three-car garage. He was well pleased, never knowing that his longtime, best and most trusted employee and friend had been stealing 10 percent of everything. The trusted employee handed the keys to the house and the new Cadillac to his employer, but the employer said to Ed, “You did not disappoint me. This is a beautiful home, and you did a good job. You’ve made me proud.”

Then, the employer handed the keys back to his friend-employee and pulled out of his pocket the deed to the house and the ownership documents to the new Cadillac and gave it all to his trusted employee, still

not realizing that the employee had been stealing 10 percent for the last two years while building that house.

The employer said, “Ed, I had this house built for you and bought this car for you, and it’s paid for, 100 percent, because you’re such an honest, hard working employee, and you’re my best friend, and I trust you 100 percent.”

As it turned out, the friend was stealing from himself, and although the employer never knew that his trusted friend was stealing from him, God knew. God said, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (St. Mark 8:36)

God tells us about robbing God

(Malachi 3:8). Here is how God wants us to handle money and make Him our financial Partner. Here is what tithing means:

If you’re blessed with $1.00, you keep 90 cents and give 10 cents to God (10 cents equals 10 percent of $1.00).

If you are blessed with $1,000.00, you keep $900.00 and give $100.00 to God as tithes and offerings. If you are blessed with an amount of $1,000,000.00, you keep $90,000.00 for your personal use and give ten percent as seed money for your future to God.

God feeds the billions of birds every day . But, notice that the birds have to leave their nest (home) to go out and get that food . (St. Matthew 6:26)

That’s what tithing to God means. Each one has to make up his or her own mind whether they are going to include God or not (Deuteronomy 8:18, St. Matthew 6:33, St. Luke 6:38). We all have a choice to include God or not.

As the original founding father of Saint Matthew’s Church , I was a teenager, earning $50.00 a week . I came to know Jesus Christ as my Savior through the Baptist faith . Our pastor preached about tithing ten percent to God out of my $50.00 weekly paycheck , and I said to other church members, “ I cannot afford to give that ten percent to the Church , which was $5.00.”

As a teenager I was earning $50.00 a week , but didn’t think that I could give ten percent ($5.00) a week until a policeman gave me a $5.00 traffic ticket. That was my sign from God

GOD SAID THIS TO US ABOUT MONEY.

(Malachi 3:10) God wants you to keep 90 percent of your personal money to save or spend anyway you want to, but God asks for a tithe (10 percent).

Someone said to me, as an 18-yearold teenager, “If you cut God out there may be other ways that $5.00 tithe (ten percent) will go.” I blew off his comment.

The next Sunday , on my way to Church in my old, well-used Ford , I remember seeing the First Baptist Church of Fort Worth, Texas out of the corner of my eye when a police siren went off with its red lights flashing. As the policeman approached me I said to him, “Officer, what’s wrong?” He said, “Your left tail light is out, so I have to give you this ticket,” to which I asked, “How much is the

Continued on page 49

ticket going to cost me?” He said, “$5.00.” I knew God was sending me a message on ten percent tithing. As the policeman was handing me that $5.00 ticket I could see that First Baptist Church over his shoulder. Years later the pastor of that First Baptist Church and I became close friends , and I told him that my first message from God was that $5.00 traffic ticket . And this happened only a few blocks from his First Baptist Church . ===

Homeless Oregon Woman, 49, Could Have Claimed Nearly $900,000 From State Before She Died. Published June 4, 2021

Cathy Boone died homeless. She’d been living on the streets of Astoria despite inheriting a small fortune. The state of Oregon held almost $900,000 of her unclaimed money when the 49-year-old passed away in January 2020.

“It just didn’t make any sense to me. That money was just sitting there, she needed help in the worst way ,” said Jack Spithill, Boone’s father.

Boone struggled with mental health issues and drug abuse , according t o her father.

“She had a rough life, but when she was good , she was really good ,” explained Spithill.

Boone was a regular at the Astoria Warming Shelter. Unlike most visitors who slept in their clothes, Boone would take the extra effort to put on her pajamas at night, friends said.

NOT KNOWING IS VERY EXPENSIVE. $900,000 - She had all of this money, but did not know it.

“She was a special person as far as I’m concerned, said Donny Holder, who often shared cigarettes and coffee with Boone at McDonald’s.

“ She was a sweetheart ,” said Holder, who carries photographs of Boone , wrapped in a tattered plastic bag in his coat pocket . “I fell in love with her.”

Friends and acquaintances said they had no idea Boone had money available to her. She struggled to survive, like many others living unsheltered in a harsh outside environment.

“We all have our moments, but for the most part she had more smiles than cries , said Glen Lonquist, a friend of Boone’s.

Catherine Boone, known to friends as Cathy, grew up in the Portland area.

Her parents separated when she was young. Her father, who remarried and lives in Texas, tried to stay connected to his daughter.

Boone struggled in her adult life.

“I attribute it almost all to drugs , but I think she also had some mental health issues and the combination of the two didn’t work out for her very well,” Spithill said.

S O M A N Y P E O P L E D O N O T K N O W . SO MANY PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW .

For several years, Boone volunteered at the nonprofit Sisters of The Road Café in downtown Portland before moving to Astoria, where her mother lived. In 2016, Boone’s mother, Patricia Lupton, passed away. Cathy relapsed into drug abuse, according to her father. This poor woman was rich and had all of that money, almost a million dollars, but she did not know that all she had to do was walk into a bank and claim it. So many people are like that about God’s blessings . They just don’t claim God’s blessings. ===

Johnson, who works as an interpreter, had rushed out of work to pick her numbers, but she was one minute too late .

drawing , where she unexpectedly pulled in a $2 million prize .

“It was definitely a shock ,” said Johnson. “When I got the message saying that I had won , I thought, “Well, I didn’t even play tonight.”

The $3 Power Play ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win the $1 million prize . The jackpot doubled however when the 2X multiplier was drawn, officials said.

And the odds , like all lottery games, were not in her favor. In fact, the odds of her matching all five white balls were one in about 11.6 million , according to the North Carolina Education Lottery . Johnson’s winnings ended up amounting to $1,415,001.00 after

the required federal and state tax withholdings. She plans to use her winnings on a house and a vacation.

Sales from lottery tickets like Powerball help to raise more than $725 million per year for education in the state. ßß ß

NEW YORK – ❝ Dear Saint Matthew’s Church, I want to express my sincere thanks to you, your church, your prayers and your praying partners. God has bes towed upon me and my household a truly wonderful blessing and miracle. Several months ago, I had an accident with my automobile. My youngest son and my wife were with me. Because of the accident, they had to go and have a checkup. Well, there was no

That very same week, you had sent me some blessed anointing oil. In your letter, you told me how to use this anointing oil. So every night, for three nights, when he [my son] would go to sleep, I would make the sign of the cross with the

When my wife returned home from the doctor, she told me the x-rays didn’t show any sign of a tumor. I know what happened. Our Lord and Savior had performed a miracle in our lives , through your church and prayers. Thank God for sending you to me. Also, I have been a BIBLICAL SEED HARVEST

Saint Matthew’s Churches sells nothing. It is supported by your free will offerings. Further, neither this ministry’s prayers, nor the miracles of God can be bought. This ministry’s prayers are free of charge and miracles are contingent upon the will of God. Your offerings are a form of worshipping God according to scriptures such as Deuteronomy 12:6,11; Malachi 3:10; II Corinthians 9:7. We want you to know that it is one-hundred percent alright if you do not have any money to donate to this ministry. Please do not feel badly, write to us as long and as many times as you need prayer. We will be here to pray with you even if you never send a dime.

All printed statements in this book cover a time span of many years: they are reproduced as reported with editing being limited to grammatical construction, updating, clarification and space. This Ministry assumes no legal responsibility for the veracity or permanency of reported healings, miracles, or other happenings. All supernatural events and blessings are contingent upon spiritual condition relative to the individual and any other deviation from the intended divine plan could result in mental, physical, and/or spiritual set back (St. John 5:14). The pictures in this book are not Saint Matthew’s members, they are shown to place emphasis on the importance of the message. This Ministry is more than 71 years old. The testimonies in this book are of what God has done in answer to prayer. This home missionary ministry was established in 1951 and is for all people of all races. Everyone is welcome.

“According to your faith so be it unto you” (St. Matthew 9:20). Saint Matthew’s Churches prayer team is a small group of praying parents and grandparents whose lives are dedicated to praying for people and mailing out gospel books, sermon prayer letters and other Christian literature. Most of all we pray for people to be saved and be ready to meet Jesus when they die or when Jesus comes. We believe this is the most important thing in life, more important than success or material blessings. But, we also believe that the blessings of God are not limited to salvation of the soul. We believe you can have everything God promises you in the Bible. We believe God wants to bless you, his child, spiritually, physically, and financially (III John 2). We believe God wants his children to prosper and have the nicer things in life (Philippians 4:19). We pray for God to bless folks with their own businesses, more money, finer homes and automobiles. We believe God’s people can have the best of everything. It is God answering prayer, not us, that is making these wonderful things happen for people. Give God the praise.

We write our partners letters each month, all of the same faith-building nature. These items of faith, which we send out along with our letters, have no power, but are merely spiritual faith handles like Jesus and His disciples used during their time, to help people focus their faith on God.
