Hospitality with a Side of Coffee

At the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee was not the only thing buzzing during the Specialty Coffee Expo. As the premier event for coffee professionals in the nation, the expo brought together roasters, retailers, and industry leaders from around the world for an immersive experience filled with workshops, networking, and hands-on demonstrations (yes, that means taste tests!).

Behind the scenes, Smart City Networks played a critical role in powering this caffeine-fueled event. With more than 2,000 electrical main lines installed and 7.43 megawatts of electricity deployed, this was one of the largest electrical events hosted at the venue. That amount of power is equivalent to what it takes to run over 6,000 homes!

The show floor was packed with commercial espresso machines and large-scale roasting equipment, each requiring significant electrical support. To meet those needs, Smart City Networks brought in 15 additional electricians from the local union hall to ensure every exhibitor was supported. Every connection, outlet, and circuit was mapped out with precision and installed with care.

Throughout the show, our team remained onsite to troubleshoot, assist, and adapt to any last-minute changes. Working hand-in-hand with the Specialty Coffee Association, we helped create an environment where attendees could focus on discovering new products, making connections, and enjoying the experience. That level of service is what sets Smart City Networks apart.
