DONNITA BUTLER ACKNOWLEDGED
The United States-Africa Leaders Summit 2022 took place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C. in December, and Smart City is honored to announce one of our own was acknowledged for their hard work both before and during the event. Customer Service Manager Donnita Butler received a certificate of appreciation, that was hand delivered and presented by the Secret Service. Handling such an important event, that not only included delegations from 49 invited African states and the Africa Union, but also President Biden and Vice President Harris, meant that building security was a top priority, putting the building on complete lockdown.
Donnita did a fantastic job working through the heightened security measures to ensure services were installed, tested and ready on schedule. When asked about her thoughts on the recognition, Donnita said that the award should have been given to her entire team due to all their tremendous efforts. Congratulations to Donnita and her team!

ESTABLISHING GOOD RAPPORT
Smart City would like to congratulate Antoinette Ibarra (GM, Kansas City Convention Center) and Tammera ‘Tammy’ Clark (Customer Service Supervisor, Corporate) for graduating from Rapport Leadership Breakthrough One (LB1) this quarter. Their tenacity and commitment to leadership is admirable.


GOING THE EXTRA MILE
Chris DeLane, a Smart City veteran of over 13 years, represents the best of Smart City. Chris is always willing to share his technical knowledge and assist others when asked, while going the extra mile to ensure the job is done. His work ethic and friendly nature make him an asset to Smart City and the Charlotte Convention Center. In February, Chris was presented with a gift card from the CRVA IT team as a token of their appreciation for his help fixing an issue with the center’s digital signage system. Way to go Chris!
