Sofarthisyear,thecommunitiesweservehave facedsignificantuncertainty,whichhas disruptedtheirlives.Weareseeinganincrease inthenumberofpeoplewhoshopatour direct-servicemarkets Ourpantrypartnerstell usthesamething Thevitalservicesweprovide throughfood,services,andsupportareneeded now,morethanever
SmallThingswasbuiltonuncertainty.We launchedin2020,inthemidstofaglobal pandemic.Wegotprettygoodatfiguringout whatwecoulddotohelp.Now,fiveyearslater, weseeourselvesagainservingasastable presenceinthistimeofuncertainty

SmallThingsispoweredbydonatedfoodand money.ThroughJune,wehaveservedhighneedhouseholdsbysendingthemhomewith $3,160,000worthoffood,madepossiblebyyour donationsof$502,587 Weareslightlybehind our6-monthbudgetof$542,000;staffchanges andone-timeincidentshaveresultedinYTD expensesrunning$22,000higherthanplanned
WhileweanticipateastrongQ4,wehavean operatinggapof$65,000atthehalfwaypoint. Ifyouareinapositiontosupplementor accelerateyouryear-endsupporttoclosethis gap,wewoulddeeplyappreciateit.

We’rethrilledtowelcomeYassminMoortothe SmallThingsteamasournewProgram Manager Withover15yearsofexperience leadinghumanitarianprogramsforCARE,the InternationalRescueCommittee,UNHCR,and theWorldFoodProgram,Yassminbringsa globallensanddeepcompassiontohernew roleinPhiladelphia.
NowbasedinPhiladelphia,Yassminoversees SmallThings’programs,includingourthreefullchoicemarketsinFairhill,HuntingPark,and CenterCity Shealsoleadstheexpansionofour MoreThanFoodProgram,whichconnects neighborstoworkforcetraining,socialservices, andapathwaytowardlong-termstability
