THE Junabee Memorial Hall Committee plans a casserole night in July at a facility which has had a major upgrade in recent years. Chris Rubie is the current president and is keen to pay tribute to the many pioneers of the area who are remembered in a pioneer walk in the gardens beside the hall. The hall was opened on January 5, 1946 by James Jermyn Kemp and was re-dedicated by his great grandson Neale Alan Kemp on September 23, 2018.
Local apiarists face of honey
A thousand hives and the face of Capilano; this Southern Downs beekeeping family are the face of f honey suppliers across Queensland. “We’ve had people say they’ve seen our faces on labels as far away as Mackay and Townsville,” Third-generation beekeeper David Stevens said. Based at Wheatvale, the Stevens family are fourth-generation beekeepers at Condamine Apiaries, who have supplied Capilano, Australia’s largest honey packer, with honey for over 60 years.
