Sorghum growers on the Southern Downs will be interested to know that the stubborn issue of sorghum lodging is getting a dose of scholarly limelight. Lodging, which happens when high grain yields leads to the failure of the stalks of grain to remain upright might sound like a nice problem to have, but according to GRDC, is an issue that is consistently rated as the most significant concern facing Australian sorghum growers and costing on average $12 million worth in yield loss annually. Out-pulling COVID-19
While many local events have been cancelled due to COVID-19, the Darling Downs Heavy Horse Festival is going full steam ahead in March.
