It’s hard to believe that ten years ago, then Rector Bob Dannals and parishioner Guy Griffeth planted the seed for the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market. Since that time, our market has grown into a thriving community full of the freshest local produce, meats, cheeses, eggs, honey, olive oil and artisanal foods in the area. Our volunteers welcome over 900 patrons c ia ire every Saturday April through September to shop from St e w a r t , S M F M D 35 – 45 local farmers, ranchers, and food artisans. We are all about building community; providing fresh, local food to our neighborhood and beyond; and supporting local small businesses. We are an all-edible, non-profit market that relies on the generosity of our donors to continue to operate. Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church pays for our two operations personnel and our security guard, but the “Friends of the Farmers Market” makes up the difference. Providing opportunities for outreach is also part of our mission. We collect clothing for One Man’s Treasure, a local agency that supports men recently released from prison; and Family Gateway, a local agency that supports children and families affected by homelessness. We partner with Jubilee Park for National Lemonade Day each May, helping the teens raise money for their programming and we’re looking forward to celebrating two special Family Days at the Farmers Market for Independence Day and Halloween. This year, we will offer an Electronic Recycling Day in September to coincide with The Season of Creation, a movement to protect our common home. We are much more than just an outdoor market. The Saint Michael’s Farmers Market is a friendly place where all are welcome; a place to connect with family and friends; a place to shop for the best local foods while listening to the sweet sounds of our volunteer band; and a place to support and serve one another.

Tricia Stewart SMFM Director

We love the market not only because we always find the best food and produce there, but because it provides an opportunity to directly support our local farmers, ranchers, and food artisans. It allows us access to wholesome and healthy seasonal veggies, locally ranched meat, farm-fresh eggs, kolaches, breakfast tacos, olive oils, pickled veggies, salsas, tamales, home-made tortillas, and so much more!

CLAIRE AND JEFF STEWART Patrons

We love being a part of the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market! We felt very welcomed as a vendor from the start, and helping hands are there every Saturday morning to greet us. Additionally, the market has the most wonderful patrons. Not only are they excited to buy all of the wonderful products the market has to offer, but we get to have fun conversations with some really great people!

I love the music and the happy vibe that gives the market it’s upbeat feeling. It’s fun to see so many friends, especially those who don’t go to Saint Michael but support our project. I love going home with a bag of fresh produce, cheese, bread, and so much more. PEGGY CARR Patron

The best form of community outreach Saint Michael has ever had is that the market welcomes people no matter their color, their faith, or their economic status. Saint Michael’s Farmers Market exudes love to everyone.

NANCY WILBUR

VOLUNTEER & PATRON

As a new company, the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market was instrumental in introducing our product. The SMFM is the best curated and friendliest market in the area with a passionate and highly supportive community. Thank you for supporting small farms and businesses, it means so much to us!

LISSI, ZACH & CONNOR Cosmic Cultures, Vendor Saint Michael’s is one of my favorite neighborhood markets. The atmosphere is always so fun and inviting. You never know what extras they will have planned from live bands, to fire trucks taking pictures with the kids, or face painting and balloon sculpting. But what keeps me coming back is the wide variety of quality vendors from specialized keto treats, to fresh floral arrangements, and fruits and vegetables at the peak of the growing season! I also like supporting the vendors who are local and are building their dreams with amazing products.

ERICKA MCKIM And I Like It Cheesecakes, Vendor Each Saturday, my dog anticipates accompanying me to the Farmers Market and he knows that he will get treats and hugs. If you haven’t made a lap around Saint Michael’s Farmers Market, grab your reusable bags (you’ll need more than one for sure) and head on over. We have fresh coffee, cold water (even for furry friends), food for your table, and nourishment for your soul. Oh, did I mention meeting angels?

BETH HISE Patron and Volunteer

I love that it is embedded in our community. I love the connections I make with neighbors, vendors, and volunteers. I love that it is an outreach of the church. I love that the vendors are small start ups or farmers.
