Happy Fathers’ Day and Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. During the “Peace” today reach out and give a father a hug. Be sure and eat light this week. Next Sunday we will have pies of every variety and flavor in the Garden Cloister as we Celebrate America. Two mission trips leave next week, our middle-school youth head to Corpus Christi and Honduras Threads will make their annual trip to work with women in the sewing co-ops. Keep them in your prayers.

A Thomas Hardy Classic Tops Faith and Literature Class Today. Oliver Butler will review Far From the Madding Crowd, one of Thomas Hardy’s classic novels at the Faith and Literature class today at 11:00 in the Coke Activities Room. A movie version of the book is currently showing in Dallas area theaters. Faith and Literature takes a two-week break while we Celebrate America next Sunday and enjoy the 4th of July weekend the following week. Faith and Literature returns on July 12 with Bill Murray reviewing The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.

Celebrate America: Patriotic Music, Worship, Fellowship. Next Sunday the Saint Michael choir backed by brass, percussion, and our mighty organ will salute America with great patriotic hymns and a stirring rendition of “God Bless America.” Following worship the Garden Cloister will be arrayed with more than 50 pies from Apple to Key Lime to Strawberry. We will welcome our new Associate for Mission and Outreach, The Rev. Hunter Ruffin, and say thank you to the Director of Engagement, Marta Holden, as she and her husband, Colin, head for North Carolina.

Vacation Bible School Huge Success – Thanks to You Vacation Bible School, which ended Friday, June 12, was one of the best ever with more than 225 kids and nearly 130 adult and youth leaders. Its success is due in large part to you! Your pledge makes Vacation Bible School and over 100 more ministry programs possible at Saint Michael.

YC Late Night Wednesday, June 24. Saint Michael’s youth will hang-out Wednesday night for a movie, games, snacks, and a special surprise event.

It starts at 8:30 in the Youth Center. Friends are welcome.

General Convention of the Episcopal Church Begins June 25. The 78th General Convention of the Episcopal Church will be held June 25 through July 3 in Salt Lake City. Among the convention’s business will be the election of a new Presiding Bishop who will take office November 1. Get information about the convention and its proceedings from the Episcopal News Service at www.episcopaldigitalnetwork.com.

Seminary of the Southwest Launches Digital Ministry to Reflect on Convention. In conjunction with the General Convention, the Seminary of the Southwest is launching “Sowing Holy Questions” at www.sowingholyquestions.org.

Each day seminary faculty will provide a reflection on convention actions, ending with a simple question. Readers are encouraged to post their thoughts and responses on social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Following General Convention, “Sowing Holy Questions” will feature a blog post each week for shared reflection via social media.

Saint Michael and All Angels offers a dedicated group of men and women who have received specialized training to walk with you, confidentially, over the “rough spots.” If you know someone who might benefit from having a Stephen Minister or you could use one yourself, contact The Rev. Men of Saint Michael Set for Breakfast on Friday. Vicar Bill Murray will lead the Men of Saint Michael breakfast on Friday talking about the Tower of Babel. It starts at 7:00 in the Coke Activities Room with Rusty Taco’s breakfast tacos, orange juice and coffee all for $5.00.

Pray for the Rector Search and Transition. A special place has been set up in the Bishop Moore Chapel where all parishioners are encouraged to pray for our Rector Search and Transition. The Prayer Ministry team and others have prayed every day since the process began, and we invite every parishioner to join in these prayers, thanking God and asking for wisdom through our transition.

Congregational Care Volunteers Serve in Special Ways – Join Them! If you enjoy providing compassionate hospitality consider volunteering to help during funeral receptions at the church. If you enjoy cooking and sharing meals with parishioners needing a little loving care, becoming an Extended Care Cook is for you. And, Good Shepherds are the eyes and ears of the health and well-being of parishioners living in their neighborhoods.

Christian Yoga Schedule Changes. Christian Yoga is in its summer schedule. The class will NOT meet Monday, July 6, or during the month of August. Yoga will resume on Monday, September 14. Classes led by licensed instructor, Annette Lentz, meet at 5:30 in the Youth Center on Monday evenings. Contact Annette.lentz@sbcglobal.net.

Jubilee Park is looking for volunteers. Join us by participating in one or all of the following: • Volunteer for Jubilee Park’s Brighter Bites on Fridays. Brighter Bites is a Jubilee Park program that provides families with 30 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for the weekend.

Volunteers are needed from 11:00 – 2:30 to sort and pass out the bags of food on June 26, and the five Fridays in July.

• Chaperone a Summer Camp Field Trip. Jubilee Park’s Summer Camp is taking three field trips to exciting Dallas area attractions and needs volunteer chaperones.

The field trips will be on Fridays June 26, July 10, and July 24. Chaperones must be 21 or older.

• Jubilee’s After School Program Can Use You This Fall. Jubilee Park’s after-school program serves 180 children from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Volunteers are needed this fall to assist teachers in the classroom with homework and enrichment activities. And, tutors are needed to help with reading and math skills.

• Help Jubilee Kids Learn to Sew. Sewing Classes at Jubilee Park start June 23 and help is needed to teach 4th and 5th graders how to sew. Classes are Tuesday and Wednesday mornings 10:00 - 11:30, June 23 - July 29. Contact Mary Jo Forbes maryjoforbes@gmail.com or 972-306-3856.
