The Robotics Club competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition and mentors middle schools through the Clavius Project among other activities.

A National Green Ribbon school, SLUH sustainability initiatives teach students to act with intention for the responsible stewardship of the earth’s resources.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES A team of school counselors, college counselors and learning consultants support the academic and emotional well-being of each student and provide personal guidance in developing study habits, forming good technology use, creating course schedules, examining career choices and choosing a college or university.

SLUH students are offered three distinct areas of support: • School Counselors are the first point of contact for a Jr. Billiken and assist parents/ students with their transition to SLUH. They also promote and support students’ success and wellness over their 4 years.

• College Counselors help students and parents with the planning, discernment and application process while developing relationships with colleges and universities.

•O ur comprehensive Learning Center provides students with learning and study skills that promote success in their four years. Learning coaches work one-on-one with students, and when needed, coordinate with faculty how best to assist the student.

FIND GOD IN ALL THINGS Every afternoon, silence fills the entire school for two minutes. It’s a special moment dedicated to the Examen of Consciousness, a self-examination inspired by St. Ignatius.

Then, each day for closing prayer, the hallways and classrooms echo with the sound of our Jr. Bills dedicating all of their thoughts, words and actions “To the Greater Glory of God.” Prayer and reflection are just two ways Campus Ministry further develop faith, spirituality and a sense of social justice in our students. Through a comprehensive program of liturgy, prayer, retreats and service, we form Men for and with Others while fostering the love of God, others and self.

FAITH IN ACTION SLUH students serve communities at over 80 different sites throughout the city of St. Louis, neighboring states, and globally.

Our students are guided along a four-year service model with three years of foundation to propel students into their Senior Service Project. These experiences help SLUH students strive to live our motto of being “Men for Others.”

BE PART OF THE TEAM! SLUH’s strong athletic tradition continues today with teams in 19 interscholastic sports programs. A founding member of the Metro Catholic Conference (MCC), SLUH has routinely captured the MCC All-Sports Trophy, awarded to the member school with the best varsity conference finish in all sports.

In the past 10 years, SLUH’s teams have had success at all levels.

DISTRICT State tournament qualifying titles in Baseball (a remarkable 26 consecutive seasons), Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Tennis, Track & Field, Volleyball and Water Polo.

ALUMNI Since its founding in 1818, SLUH has graduated thousands of young men who are now vital constituents within our school community. For a prospective SLUH applicant, there is no better way to get a feel for SLUH than to spend a morning as a guest of a current Jr. Bill freshman. Shadowing is not a mandatory part of the application process, but it is a great opportunity for current 8th grade students to learn more about SLUH! Shadow@SLUH is available from October 1st through the end of the year on selected regular school days. Parents are welcome to stay for an informal coffee and campus tour. Open House On Sunday, November 3 from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

No registration is necessary; plan on stopping by at any time that day to see the school first hand. A Student Ambassador will personally guide you and your family around our campus. Get the full tour or visit special areas of interest to you. In addition, teachers, coaches, administrators, students and parents will all be on hand to answer your questions and tell you more about our curriculum, activities, student life, financial aid, admissions process and more. All grade school boys are welcome to attend.

SLUH Night SLUH Night will offer prospective students and their parents an opportunity to hear from teachers and students about what makes SLUH unique. SLUH Night will take place at SLUH on Thursday, October 17, 2019. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will consist of a presentation by various members of our school community.

All boys in grades 5-8 and their parents are invited to attend.

APPLY FRESHMAN APPLICATION PROCESS SLUH follows the traditional 8th grade admissions process of a November application with February decision. We also accept applications from qualified freshmen and transfer students on a rolling basis. For the Class of 2024, each part of our application process should be completed as follows:

• SLUH Online Application • Family Interview • Scholastic High School Placement Test (HSPT) • St. Louis Archdiocese Transcript Release (found on our website)

Transfer Application Process The transfer admission process is handled on a case by case basis. Applications are considered in the spring and summer for admission to the upcoming school year.

Acceptance is contingent on academic history, space available and compelling reasons for transfer.

Decision letters, preliminary financial aid awards and enrollment information will be available on Friday, January 31st.

SLUH utilizes the FACTS Tuition Management System which you can access at sluh.org/admissions. Besides income (both taxable and non-taxable), we take into account assets, expenses, liabilities and the number of children attending Catholic schools (K-12).

We encourage families to bring any special circumstances to our attention, recognizing that each case is unique.
