SLUH Golf - The 1920s

“Although golf is not considered a Prep League sport and a point getter towards the LaneTrophy, it was decided to have a team here at school, because quite a few other schools have teams, and because of the game’s general good qualities. Golf is an excellent, perhaps the greatest, strengthener of morale and nerve known.” The Dauphin 1926

1926 - SLUH formed its first golf team.There was a great deal of practice and intra-squad matches but very little outside competition of record from 1926 - 1929.

SLUH Golf - The 1930s

1934 - SLUH finished in eight place in the State Championship.

1935 - SLUH finished tied for fifth in the State Championship.

1936 - SLUH captured the City Golf Championship. George Griffin ’39 posted the lowest score, shooting a 79. SLUH won the State Championship for the first time in school history.

SLUH Golf - The 1930s

1937 - SLUH finished fifth in the State Championship. Gene Fehlig won the individual State Championship, shooting 144.

1938 - Gene Fehlig won his second-consecutive individual State Championship, shooting 139. He also claimed the Prep League and District Individual Championships.

Fehlig also represented St. Louis in the National JuniorTournament in St. Paul, MN, where he won long driving honors, averaging 240 yards per drive.

SLUH Golf - The 1940s

1941 - SLUH finished tied for third in the StateTournament, as Julius Rotter ’42 captured an Individual State Championship.

1946 - SLUH finished sixth in the StateTournament.

1949 - SLUH finished seventh in the StateTournament.

SLUH Golf - The 1950s

1950 - Jack Wiegers ’50 finished fifth in the StateTournament.

1951 & 1955 - SLUH finished tied for second in the State Tournament.

1952 - SLUH captured the school’s second State Championship and Charles Fawcett ’53 took home top honors in individual play.

1953 - SLUH finished in tied for eighth place in the StateTournament.

1954 - SLUH finished in sixth place in the StateTournament.

1955 - SLUH finished in tied for second place in the State Tournament.

1954 -1957 - SLUH claimed four straight District Championships.

Joe Wolken ’57 earned an individual medal with a score of 146 in his senior season.

SLUH Golf - The 1960s

1962 - SLUH finished third in the DistrictTournament.

1966 & 1967 - SLUH finished seventh in the StateTournament.

1969 - SLUH finished first in the Bi-StateTournament, second in the DistrictTournament and second in the StateTournament.

SLUH Golf - The 1970s

1971 - SLUH competed in the Bi-State and DistrictTournaments.

1972 -The team went 12-2 and claimed the Bi-StateTournament title and finished sixth out of 36 teams in the DistrictTournament. Mark Keeley ’74, Ed Downey ’73, Vic Jost ’72 and Jerry Meyer ’72 all qualified for State.

1974 - SLUH finished with a 6-2 record and finished fourth in the Bi-StateTournament.

SLUH Golf - The 1970s

1976 - SLUH finished second in the Bi-StateTournament and seventh in the DistrictTournament. Jay Delsing ’79 was medalist of the year.

1977- Jay Delsing ’79 was medalist of the year.

1979 - Jay Delsing ’79 District Championship.

SLUH Golf - The 1980s

1982 - SLUH posted second place finishes in theAll CatholicTournament and the Normandy Best BallTournament.

1983 -The Jr. Bills posted a 9-3 record, claimed the District Championship and finished fifth in the StateTournament. Dave Ritchie ’83 finished third in state with a score of 148.

1984 -The team did not qualify for State, but Mike McDaniel ’85 qualified and earned a medal for finishing 15th.

1988 - Matt Jermack ’88 qualified for State and earned a medal, shooting a 79 in the tournament.

1989 - Brian Hayes ’91 qualified for State.

SLUH Golf - The 1990s

1990 - Ben Chehval ’90 qualified for the StateTournament

1991 - Bonnie Vega becomes the first female to serve as head coach of the Jr. Bills golf team.

1992 - SLUH tied Parkway West for first place in the District Tournament, as John McLellan ’94 and Mike McAfee ’94 finished first and second place respectively in individual play.Advanced to the State Tournament where the team finished in eleventh place.

1993 - SLUH became the first winners of the MCC Conference with a 6-2 record and finished the season 11-2 overall.

SLUH Golf - The 1990s

1993 -The team finished first in the DistrictTournament and fifth in the StateTournament. Matt Collins ’95 medaled in the tournament, finishing fourteenth.

1994 - SLUH finished 10-0 in the regular season and won the MCC with an 8-0 record. Each player was a medalist in at least one match during the season.

The team finished second in the DistrictTournament and advanced to the StateTournament where they finished third. John McLelland ’94 andTim Powers ’96 madeAll-State by placing in the top 15 indidially.

SLUH Golf - The 1990s

1995 - SLUH advanced to the StateTournament for the third consecutive year where they finished in fifth place. Joe McCormac ’95 finished sixteenth out of 128 golfers in individual play.

1997 - SLUH finished second in the DistrictTournament and third in the StateTournament.Andy Schwob ’97 finished in seventh place individually.

1998 - Kevin Knapp ’98 wins the individual StateTitle.

1999 - SLUH captured second place in the DistrictTournament and ninth place in the StateTournament.

SLUH Golf - The 2000s

2000 - SLUH finished third in the MCCTournament and the DistrictTournament. DaveAllen ’00 made the StateTournament, shooting a 76.

2001 - SLUH tied for second place in the StateTournament.

2002 - SLUH placed third in the DistrictTournament.Andy Schumert ’02 and Joe Sharamitaro ’02 qualified for the State Tournament for their individual play.

SLUH Golf - The 2000s

2003 - SLUH finished second in the MCCTournament.

2004 - Pat Neuner captured the individual medal at the MCC Tournament. Mike Doherty ’06 had the shot of the tournament, a hole-in-one on the 16th hole, a 125 yard par 3, at Quail Creek.

2006 - SLUH took home second-place honors at the District Tournament andAlex Luebbert ’06 and Mike Doherty ’06 qualified for the StateTournament, both shooting 80.

2007 - SLUH finished fifth in the DistrictTournament.

2008 - SLUH finished sixth in the MCCTournament.

SLUH Golf - The 2010s

2010 - SLUH finished third in the DistrictTournament. Kyle Felts ’10 and Zack Harris ’10 qualified for the StateTournament for their individual play.

2011 - Scott Schaeffer ’14 and Ben Hutchison ’13 qualified for sectionals, with Schaffer advancing to the StateTournament.

2014 - SLUH finished in first place at both the District and SectionalsTournaments and in fourth place at the State Tournament.

SLUH Golf - The 2010s

2014 -At the StateTournament, Scott Schaffer ’14 tied for 11th place,Alex Ciaramitaro ’15 tied for 19th place, Will Doorack ’14 tied for 25th place, Dan Venker ’15 tied for 32nd place and Ryan Pilcher ’14 claimed 70th place.

2015 - SLUH finished first in the DistrictTournament, second in the SectionalTournament and seventh in the StateTournament.

2016 - SLUH finished second in the DistrictTournament, second in the SectionalTournament and seventh in the State Tournament.

SLUH Golf - The 2010s

2017 - SLUH finished in second place in both the District Tournament and the SectionalsTournament and in fifth place in the StateTournament.

2018 - SLUH took home first place in the DistrictTournament and third place in the SectionalsTournament. Louis Perotti ’18, Jack Wachter ’18 and Ray Winter ’20 all qualified for the State Tournament for their individual play.

2019 - SLUH finished in second place in the DistrictTournament and in third place in the SectionalsTournament. JonathanTurner ’19, Ray Winter ’20 and Parker Leavitt ’19 all participated in the StateTournament for their individual play.

SLUH Golf - The 2020s

2021 - SLUH captured first place in the Jesuit Cup and third place in the DistrictTournament. Louis Cornett ’22, Sam Fix ’21 and Grant Sussman ’21 all qualified for state due to their individual play.

2022 - SLUH captured their second-consecutive Jesuit Cup and placed fifth in the DistrictTournament, where Louis Cornett ’22 medaled for his individual play.

2025 - SLUH finished fourth in the MCC Championship, second in the DistrictTournament and first in the StateTournament.

2026 - SLUH finished first in the DistrictTournament.The State Tournament awaits…
