It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone. With the generosity of our donors and volunteers, the vision of our Board of Trustees, and the long hours of dedicated work from our staff, 2017 will be remembered for many years to come.

college SCHOLARSHIP Jessie Greene came to Crossnore School & Children's Home as a young teenager. She graduated in 2016 from Marjorie Williams Academy, located on our Avery campus, and is a sophomore at Lees-McRae College where she is studying psychology. Jessie serves as the student body Vice-President and as President of the Programming Committee. Jessie has always focused on planning for her future and with her degree from Lees-McRae, she will have many options. She went into college planning to get a Master's degree and become a therapist

working with college students. Her experiences in student government have also piqued her interest and so have her experiences in event planning. When asked about her college scholarships, Jessie shared, "Money for college means the world to me. Everything that happens after LeesMcRae depends on how well I do here. I am blessed beyond belief that I get to study here and will leave college without any debt."

Dr. Ken Gallup's interaction with The Children's Home began in 1969, when he and his fellow Wake Forest University medical students assisted in the campus infirmary. Additionally, his wife grew up in the West End and he moved back to the area about 15 years ago. Over the years, Dr. Gallup watched with interest and concern as the Home changed. He often wondered about the beautiful property and what the future would hold. "It's a jewel hidden in plain sight," Dr. Gallup said.

Reynolds American Inc. has a rich history of community service and this past year, we've been the beneficiary of several projects led by individual departments at Reynolds. For example, the Regulatory Compliance Department has participated in the United Way Day of Caring in the past and was paired with an agency. This year, the department chose to use their time and skills on our Winston-Salem campus.

Each year the Consumer Marketing Department chooses a community organization where they can create a memorable experience for the recipients.
