A WARM WELCOME BACK TO WORK AT SKYPARK

W

e hope that you are all doing well and looking forward to returning to work at Skypark when you are ready. With Phase two underway, more of you are looking to create your own back to work plans and we have put some practical steps in place to protect everyone who enters Skypark. We anticipate that our re-entry process will be a phased plan, with numbers increasing slowly based on the Government’s guidelines, schools reopening fully along with childcare and public transport becoming available to everyone. Our plan includes the introduction of a new oneway system to help everyone move safely around our buildings. We will adapt as the guidance changes and more restrictions are lifted. Following is an overview of our back to work plan and more information on this is available from Lynne and Malcolm our management team.

MAINTENANCE, CLEANING & SECURITY Our common area fire system maintenance, water hygiene, lifts, fabric maintenance and decoration have all being continuing throughout the estate. Everything is ready for your return whenever you chose to start that process. The cleaning regime has been increased and adapted to ensure all areas are fully sanitised on a more regular basis. We are now fully spraying all common areas every weekend to completely cover all surfaces. We have also increased the number of hand sanitisers in our common areas. Our security teams are ramping up with an enhanced patrol structure and changes to all the normal visitors and contractor controls ensuring that access to all areas is as touchless as possible.

garden has been closed. All these measures are to prevent gatherings as much as possible in the common spaces where for the most part we will be queueing for lifts and stairs access as we move up and down the buildings. Our main reception desk will have a screen fitted to protect our concierge, and Brian will be back to work as soon as possible. Our reception toilets in SP1 will be closed and the SP5 toilets will have every other cubicle isolated. The showers in SP5 will remain locked. If any SP5 tenant wishes to have a shower, please call the management office and we will arrange for the relevant level to be unlocked, sanitised after use and then relocked for the next user.

lifts then please let our security team know and we will ensure the lift is brought to them empty. We would be happy to discuss other measures with you if you feel there is more that we can do together, to make the entire process easier for all.

EMERGENCY ACTION WITH A POSITIVE COVID19 CASE INSIDE THE BUILDING As guidance is new and the situation is changing this will probably need to be updated as we proceed. If there is a positive or suspected case in the building, we should be notified of the situation immediately. We will then take the following steps: • • •

VISITORS Visitor parking is still available, but the number of bays will be restricted. It is best to book well in advance and let us know if there are any specific requirements. Download our app for quick and easy booking.

SIGNAGE You will notice that signage is everywhere; signs for the lift and stair usage, directional signage, reminders on the rules for social distancing and use of our hand sanitisers. Please familiarise yourselves with these on your first visit back to site. It will take some time to get used to the new regime, but it is necessary to allow us to comply with the social distancing guidelines.

MOVEMENT WITHIN THE BUILDINGS

COMMON AREAS

Our plan to limit close contact with other tenants is to deploy a one-way system. Within all the buildings everyone using the main core lifts and stairs will come up through the floors and then use the fire exits from the individual suites to come down the building back to ground level.

You will see some changes to the common areas when you do return. The soft seating has been removed, the booths and meeting rooms are closed for now and the external smoking

This is the only way that we can keep all pedestrian traffic in one direction. Should there be any need for anyone to come back down in the

4

Notify other occupiers and site staff. Notify and seek guidance from the relevant authorities. Arrange a deep clean of common areas where necessary.

FIRE EVACUATION In case of a fire evacuation/emergency, all fire escape routes/stairs should be used as normal to leave the building and a social distance should be maintained at fire assembly points. However please note in line with government guidance in an emergency, for example, an accident or fire, people do not have to stay 2m apart if it would be unsafe to do so.

YOUR RETURN TO WORK PLAN We are keen to keep the communication flowing both ways so any insight you can offer us into your re-occupation plans, your intended phasing plan and your expected occupation levels would be great to have. The more information we can gather from all tenants the more we can keep everyone informed. As the numbers grow, we will probably have to adapt our strategies together to maintain the social distancing guidelines.

WIN A BIKE WITH LOVE TO RIDE & SHARE YOUR BIKING STORY!

As we get ready to launch our new cycling facilities, don’t forget that June is Bike Month and there’s a chance to win a brand new bike! If you’ve been enjoying cycling over the last few months and planning to start cycling when you return to work we would love to hear from you!

Changing your commute can feel daunting, but it's more straight forward than you might think if you use these tips: • Dress normally. If your ride is less than 30 minutes, chances are you can just ride in your normal work clothes. Unless you want to ride fast, you can just cruise into work on your bike - no sweat! • Find the best route. Don't just take the route you would if you were in a car, try looking for routes through quiet neighbourhood streets or other parallel/alternative routes where traffic is naturally slower and safer. Adding a little bit of distance in exchange for a more comfortable ride is almost always worth it!

Riding to work is good for you, your wallet and the environment - plus you could win great prizes by taking part in Love to Ride, the bike riding initiative to get more of us on the saddle. Love to Ride has something for everyone. On the site or the app you can record your rides, encourage others to jump in the saddle, complete a virtual ride and set goals!

• Use a pannier. Make use of the bike to carry your belongings rather than a backpack - freeing up your back will make you more agile, keep your back comfortable, and make it easier to carry items at a whim.

There’s a chance to win one of TWO brand-new bikes, one of FOUR £500 donations to your local Bikes for Key Workers/Coronavirus Community Support initiative, or one of THIRTY Love to Ride t-shirts.

For more tips on riding to work visit www.lovetoride.net/global/pages/tips_biketowork

All you have to do is register on the Skypark 'Love To Ride' group and set yourself a goal for how much cycling you want to enjoy in June, and log your journeys – it’s as simple as that! Friends, family and colleagues can join in - CLICK HERE for more info, and the link below to register. ADD Link? Download the Love to Ride app to quickly and easily log rides wherever you are. You can even track your rides using GPS, making taking part even easier!

Happy biking! If you would like share your biking story in Skyline or are looking for a bike buddy, we’d love to hear from you as we gear up to launch our new state of the art bike facility – with space for 250 new bike racks, toilets, showers and a changing area, a repair space that is designed for you!

Cycling to work at Skypark is accessible! If you’re a seasoned cyclist or a beginner and

STEPHEN LAPPIN OF LEIDOS TELLS US WHY HE SWAPPED HIS CAR FOR A TWO WHEEL COMMUTE When did you start biking to work? I started cycling in 2014 when the company moved to Skypark. I live approximately 3.5 miles away. I quickly realised that we no longer needed to be a two car family, so got rid of my car. Initially I commuted by bus instead, but after discovering shower facilities were available in the building, I tried commuting by bicycle. Have you increased cycling over the past few months? I have been consistently cycling to Skypark since then. Only occasionally, when the weather is particularly bad, or I am going to the pub after work, do I use public transport. What inspired you take up cycling to work? To keep costs down and feel fitter. What are the main benefits physically and mentally? I lost a few pounds almost immediately I started cycling to work every day. I feel more energised

6

when I arrive to work, and I believe that I am more productive and in a better mood. It is also a great feeling when you are cycling on the path by the Expressway to see frustrated car drivers stuck in slow moving traffic. What would you say to anyone considering biking to work and is not sure where to start? The weather is not as bad as it often looks from behind a windows or windscreen. I often cycle without much protection from the weather, and have rarely been well soaked. There is no need to be lycra-clad to enjoy cycling to work. I usually cycle in normal clothes (with a waterproof jacket in my backpack – just in case). There is no need to go fast and get sweaty. A steady pace gets you there in good time without always needing to go for a shower. Just make sure you have a good lock to keep your bike safe. And remember use the monthly bike service to keep your bike in condition.

TEDxGLASGOW LAUNCHES A SUMMER OF CONVERSATIONS WORTH HAVING While this year’s TEDxGlasgow Climate Change Event is postponed to 2021, it’s great to announce that Skypark’s owner Federated Hermes will continue as a sponsor so watch this space for more on next year’s major event! In the meantime, as TEDxGlasgow cannot share powerful ideas in person right now, you are all invited to join a series of free online events Conversations Worth Having – with the first set to take place on 25th June at 6pm. Join host, former BBC presenter, journalist and current affairs specialist Clare English, and a panel of esteemed speakers for an hour of virtual idea sharing as they consider whether our current experience of the coronavirus crisis can make for a better society in the future. What made us adapt to kinder ways during this pandemic and whether we are likely to revert back to our previous, everyday way of life as the new reality kicks in? What good things should we keep, if any, and is this even possible without changing the basis of our economy and society?

Joanne Lynn, Head of Events at TEDxGlasgow, said: “It was really tough having to cancel our 2020 event, knowing that we’ll not be able to welcome thousands of people to listen and share experiences and ideas that stimulate positive change. “In the midst of the unprecedented global situation, there’s been a big spike in online events and we’re hoping to make the most of the opportunity to host real-time conversations online. In fact, there’s a real benefit in going

digital as it means we can engage with influential speakers and audiences from across the globe, sharing ideas beyond Scotland. “Exploring the theme of society postCoronavirus will no doubt be thoughtprovoking – there’s a lot of powerful and positive energy that can be harnessed and I’m sure their words will have a tangible impact on our online attendees who we look forward to welcoming.”

Join speakers Andy Haldane, Chief Economist of the Bank of England; Professor Paul Dolan, author and Behavioural Scientist at the London School of Economics; and Iman Amrani award-winning digital journalist from The Guardian, live on Zoom as TEDxGlasgow asks: What is the future of society? POP UP AT THE PYRAMID: VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Our local community hub The Pyramid in Anderston, is running ‘The Pyramid Pop Up,’ a community event for primary school children and their families, and is calling for volunteers to give a few hours on Thursdays, to help distribute weekly activity packs and goody bags. The Pyramid has been awarded a grant from the Scottish Government Wellbeing Fund to run the project for approximately 500 children and their families for the next 10 weeks. “Each week, we will run a pop up from The Pyramid to give each child an activity pack and a goody bag of fruit, healthy snacks and treats”, said Ailsa MacKenzie, Development Officer from The Pyramid at Anderston. “The activity packs will have associated online content and demonstrations - most of the children can access online activities and we can support those who currently cannot. “We will also have a Toy Swap of toys, boardgames and jigsaws , thanks to substantial support from Gibsons Games. Alongside, we’re running a free community pick up point, with essential toiletries, baby products and nappies, period products and food basics for families who need them. We can also provide information about other sources of help and support. We would very much welcome any donations of essential items for the pick up point, which can be brought to The Pyramid between 9.30am and 4.30pm on Thursdays. “The Pyramid Pop Up is supporting families with primary age children in our area, and so far we have lined up packs with arts and crafts; playing cards and magic tricks with a demo/tutorial from magic champion Billy Reid; modelling clay and a demo from Jim Parkyn (Aardman Animation lead modelmaker); a pack in association with Woodcraft Folk; comic book making, a design and make your own chocolate bar pack; a maths and puzzle pack with Kjartan Poskitt and more.

“We appreciate this is a difficult time to ask for help but if you can spare a donation or a few hours on Thursdays between 10.30am – 4pm to help to run the project, it would be very much appreciated. Please get in touch by emailing ailsa@thepyramid.scot.” 9

FILAMENT PD AWARDED UK FUNDING BOOST Flying in the face of adversity our product development agency Filament PD, is pushing ahead with several new healthcare products borne out of the current crisis. In addition, team Filament has announced it has been awarded funding by Innovate UK that supports cuttingedge businesses, enabling the first stages of the development of a medical staff protection device born right here in Skypark! “Like so many companies, the past few months have seen us overcome many challenges and it’s great to share some positive news on the development of our new healthcare products”, said Craig Lynn, co-founder of Filament PD. “We are absolutely delighted to announce that a product owned and developed by us, has been awarded Innovate UK grant funding to accelerate field trials and the ultimate release of the product. Although we can't show you the designs yet (it's still top secret!), we can tell you it's a unique, easy-to-use and affordable protective barrier for medical staff while treating patients. This funding means we can progress to field trials later this year when we hope to announce more details.”

Commenting on more news on contract wins Gregor Aikman, cofounder of Filament PD said: “This current crisis has enabled some of our healthcare product customers to push ahead with their product developments. This has led to Filament being awarded two further contracts; one for anti-microbial door handles that use clean touch technology to meet the demand for improved hygiene standards and a second contract, to develop a mass market wearable device that monitors vital signs to highlight health deterioration.” Gregor finished: “For our clients, this crisis means that we are continuing to demonstrate our ability to consistently provide a product design and development service under challenging circumstances. It’s a time to utilise design thinking and innovation to survive and thrive in the face of mass disruption.”

AAC CLYDE SPACE LANDS MAJOR CONTRACTS

Some members of the AAC Clyde Space team working from home.

They say that necessity is the mother of invention and space pioneers AAC Clyde Space are no strangers to meeting challenges head on. Major business wins, a switch to digital conferences, a Careers in Space seminar, and ‘Sally Squats’ have kept the team tight and busy as they adapt to new ways of working with colleagues across the world. Niki Lonsdale of AAC Clyde Space shares the latest update.

that highlight the increasingly busy small and nanosatellite market that we operate in. “The world of webinars is extremely prominent now, said Niki. “During March we hosted our first virtual conference; our digital booth ran over four days with live Q&A sessions alongside our ‘#SpaceIsAwesome’ t-shirt giveaways every night. Since then we have continued to host webinars with our CTO, Andrew Strain presenting a live SmallSat and CubeSat power systems discussion alongside our Head of Business Development, Mattias Orth. These live webinars have kept our customers engaged at a time where we are not able to travel and have shown that they are a great way to discuss our products and business across the globe from home.

“While the majority of our staff work from home, those involved in manufacturing are continuing to work from our clean room facilities at Skypark 5. We have implemented new operational procedures to ensure that safe social distancing practices throughout our manufacturing facilities are followed. “For those working from home, keeping a healthy work life balance is extremely important. Everyone is encouraged to take regular breaks and find a balanced routine that works for them. Alongside our weekly Family Meeting, quizzes and the ‘Sally Squat’ challenge, keep us in touch and entertained!

“Our ability to adapt to this ever-changing situation while completing major project milestones highlights why AAC Clyde Space is one of the global NewSpace leaders,”

“In May, our Head of Institutional Engagement, Pam Anderson collaborated with The UK Space Agency’s Head of Education and Skills, Jeremy Curtis, to present a live Careers in Space webinar. The STEM promotion was aimed at primary school children and was a way for young people across the UK to understand a bit about a career in space. Pam Anderson has also been a panellist on the EIT Digital and Edinburgh University live webinar where she discussed space data for the digital economy and space-based solutions for downstream digital applications. These webinars have been a great way to provide valuable content and stay engaged.

“On the business front, we received two large orders over the lockdown period with an (£642,000) order for a 6U satellite from Orbital Micro Systems (OMS), to be launched as part of the UK Space Launch Programme. The satellite will be included in the company's commercial GEMS program that will deliver accurate and timely weather information to businesses worldwide, to improve operational efficiencies and to minimise damage caused by extreme weather.

“Our ability to adapt to this ever-changing situation while completing major project milestones highlights why AAC Clyde Space is one of the global NewSpace leaders,” Niki finished.

“In addition, Loft Orbital placed an order for power systems for two satellites worth 250,000 USD. The systems will be delivered during 2020, starting with an engineering model in the current quarter, to be followed by flight models for two satellites in the latter half of 2020. These two large orders come alongside various small subsystem orders

HOW IS LEIDOS RESPONDING TO THE CORONAVIRUS CRISIS? WELLBEING AT LEIDOS

The wellbeing of employees has never been more important. Our working lives have changed dramatically in recent weeks, with uncertainty and new challenges for many of us. Finding the right balance between work and personal responsibilities has been crucial, as we have worked our way through lockdown. Adjusting to working from home, balancing family commitments and taking care of our wellbeing has been key for Leidos. Leidos called upon its trusted benefit partners to support us sharing resources, podcasts, webinars & initiatives highlighting how to adapt and tips to help during this time. Staying connected has been essential. The CEO shares weekly videos, managers are encouraged to check in with their teams and virtual social events have all been part of our lockdown strategy. Leidos recognised how lockdown has affected our mental health and as a result, this is going to form a key aspect of our return to work strategy. Among the initiatives Leidos has created to support employee wellbeing while working remotely from home are: Wellbeing Wednesday communications, a weekly blog offering a range of hints, tips, podcasts & resources for employees and their families. The topics change weekly aiming to cover as many topics as possible. As we ease out of lockdown this will evolve to become a regular feature we share each month.

Leidos marked Mental Health Awareness Week in May by focusing on kindness. Employees were encouraged to carry out their own acts of kindness, be kind to themselves and reflect on their own mental health. Ideas and pictures were shared on our intranet. With kindness in mind, employees were encouraged to invite a colleague for a virtual coffee break catch-up. A great opportunity to share and listen to everyday stories, taking that much needed time out.

The Mindfulness Monday initiative was set up to help employees restore a natural balance in the body and mind. The 15-minute virtual sessions encourage relaxation to help start the week in a state of calm.

Organisational Wellness Champions are volunteers who will play a key role in supporting a culture that contributes to improved mental health and wellness. They will help to drive forward change internally and help embed improved wellness amongst fellow employees.

As we plan our return to normal, whatever normal may look like, Leidos has committed to ensuring wellbeing initiatives remain at the forefront of its employee experience. Post lockdown Leidos will continue to embed our wellbeing strategy to provide an open, supportive and inclusive workplace. 12

You should try to find ways to get more walking in to your day - why not do some of your phone meetings whilst walking around your house

2.

Stand up and straighten up at regular intervals

Your computer screen should be sitting with the top at eye level to prevent you rounding your back - try putting some books underneath to lift it up Spend some time away from all screens and reading every day - try practicing mindfulness or yoga to rest your body and mind Keep a good routine - it's easy to keep working when at home which only increases your time in front of a computer, reducing your physical activity and increasing stress levels

BOUNCING BACK THE YOGA WAY WITH PATRICIA GALAVIS

How are you feeling? Maybe you have niggling aches and pains that won’t go away and sitting at a desk, stress and poor posture are all taking their toll. Yoga is an ancient exercise system and an ideal way to care for your whole being while keeping you supple and strong. With the aim of inspiring more of us to take up yoga, our resident teacher Patricia Galvais is running half hour yoga and meditation classes online. We caught up with Patricia and two of her students Laura McLean of DC Thomson and June Kulke of Caledonian Consumer Finance, on the life changing benefits of their yoga practice. What inspired you and how long have you been doing this? I started my yoga path in 2008 and through consolidation of practice, I have experienced such a state of wellbeing and spiritual growth, I decided to follow this path and share it with others. In 2017, I qualified as Hatha Yoga Teacher and in February 2019 I went to India and graduated in Hatha Yoga Teacher Training. I have been teaching meditation since September 2019. I teach Hatha Yoga, and Integrated Restorative Yoga What are the health benefits of yoga? Yoga is a restful and restorative practice that offers a very peaceful and powerful way to relax body, mind and spirit. By learning how to relax the different parts of our body the organs in those areas relax as well nurturing their function. It regulates blood pressure, increases the lungs capacity, strengthens the immune system, regulates the nervous system and eases all the joints and spine. Yoga works at many levels, so it is not just a stretching exercise. We work on the body level with the practice of the different asanas and our whole system benefits from it.

Is there a stress busting technique to recommend or some of tips on breathing? In hatha yoga we learn to observe and be aware of the breathing. This in itself has a tremendous effect in reducing stress levels. Just by observing the breath without trying to change it or manipulate it our whole system relaxes.

needs to find the timing that better suits in their agendas.

How long does a routine take to learn? My classes are appropriate for everyone regardless of the level of fitness. I work with the body in a progressive way, introducing new movements and practices according to the students in each class. I make it accessible so that my students can keep working at home later on.

I charge £5 for 1 class and £8 for a block of 2 classes. The classes are Mondays (12-12.30pm) and Wednesdays (12.30-1.00pm), so people normally book for two sessions the same week. The only equipment needed is a yoga mat and sports/loose clothes that allow free movement.

Yoga is a daily practice so it is sensible to start with 30 minutes sessions. It is reasonable to start practicing once or twice per week and then increase it until you manage to practice every day. Apparently it takes 100 days for the body to assimilate something as a routine. So we need to make an effort until it becomes effortless. For some people the morning is the best time to practice but eventually everyone

I want to encourage people to give it a try. The benefits of this practice are endless. You will get stronger (physically and mentally), more flexible (physically and mentally), you will learn to work with the breath and learn techniques that you will be able to put into practice in a very easy way. You will just feel better!!

5. How do people sign up for yoga? To sign up students need to send me an email to patricia.galavis.yoga@gmail.com. I then book them in and send them my details so that they can make the payment.

What inspired you take up yoga?

Laura has been practicing yoga on and off for 10 years and is one of Patricia’s online students. She shares her yoga experience and how good it makes her feel.

I started yoga 2 years ago. At first, I was just doing basic poses using an app on my phone which I found really beneficial. So when I saw Patricia’s class advertised within Skypark, I was keen to take it a bit further. She is a great teacher and I think I’ve improved a lot –I still have a lot to learn! I was going through a very stressful time in my life due to bereavement. I was also suffering from anxiety and didn’t want to rely on medication anymore. What are the main benefits of practicing yoga?

What inspired you take up yoga? My mother in law is a yoga teacher so I went along to her class one day and have been hooked ever since. It is so relaxing and I find it a much more enjoyable way to exercise than doing lots of cardio. What are the main benefits that you feel you have benefited from in practicing yoga?

I can control my stress and anxiety a lot better. You have to focus completely on your body and your breathing when you are in a pose, so I find it allows an escape from my overthinking. I also feel a lot fitter and stronger since I started and my flexibility has improved too.

Less aches and pains (which is very important right now!) Where do you practice at home and what equipment do you use? I have been doing Patricia's class in my bedroom, and all that is required is a mat.

Where do you practice at home and what equipment do you use? Usually in my living room with my mat – that’s another advantage– you don’t need a lot of expensive equipment.

What would you say to anyone considering yoga that is not sure where to start?

What would you say to anyone considering yoga that is not sure where to start?

I would highly recommend it, it is so accessible, anyone can do it!

Yoga is for everyone. I think there is a common misconception that you need to very fit and slim to practice. That is not the case. It’s about improving your health and wellbeing both physically and mentally but it is low impact so anyone at any fitness level can try it. If you want to give it a try sign up for Patricia’s class, I honestly can’t recommend it enough!
