We have some wonderful festive events news to announce! The magic of Christmas is all wrapped up on 7th December, when Lower Cranston Street Car Park will transform into Winter Wonderland on Ice; with a Christmas market and face painting for kids, fashion, gifts as well as entertainment and even a bar serving complimentary cocktails! Perceptions is an art collection on their shared perspectives of life by the residents of Phoenix Future’s Scottish Residential Service. ARTthritis:Made Visible, is a new exhibition to help raise awareness of the many young people in Scotland who are living with arthritis, organised by Arthritis Care Scotland. OneSearch Direct Celebrates 25 Years Skypark Tenants, OneSearch Direct, are proud to announce their celebration of 25 years of success. Phoenix Future’s to share Perceptions A new art therapy collection called Perceptions inspired by the perspectives of the residents of Phoenix Future’s Scottish Residential Service, is to open in Skypark’s donated gallery space from 16th October to 10th November.
T
he exhibition has been organised by artist and previous Skypark exhibitor Jenny Robertson on behalf of Phoenix Future’s Scottish Residential Service, that supports people and communities in recovery from drug and alcohol misuse. Jenny Robertson said, “The collection is called “Perceptions” where each resident will depict something they perceive as important to them, or something as seen from their perspective: a narrative will accompany each piece to give the viewer an insight into their rationale and mindset.” Jennifer Robertson, who supported the residents by providing art therapy classes will also show some of her work on the same theme. Jenny added “The pieces depict ways in which perception can be distorted according to the viewers’ own experiences, anxieties and fears.”

Macs Adventure’s Neil Takes Top Entrepreneurial Award Our congratulations go to Neil Lapping the founder of Macs Adventure, who has been named EY Scale Up Entrepreneur of the Year in Scotland! Macs Adventure, the walking and cycling holiday company set up in 2003, was chosen for its “unique scalable business and focus on customer experience.” The EY Entrepreneur of The Year is a worldwide awards scheme that also supports entrepreneurs build successful and sustainable businesses in over 60 countries. ARTthritis: Made Visible The Skypark business community will be a venue for a new exhibition ARTthritis:Made Visible, to help raise awareness of the many young people in Scotland who are living with arthritis and its related conditions. Commenting on behalf of the organisers, Arthritis Care Scotland, Izabela Mertowska-Shand said, “ARThritis:Made Visible is part of The Take Control Project, that is funded by Children in Need and provides support for young people from the ages of 10 to 18 who have arthritis or related conditions. Take Control delivers selfmanagement workshops, activity weekends and Joint Creativity art workshops. “The exhibition in Skypark will bring together the works of young people with arthritis and related joint conditions from all our Joint Creativity workshops throughout the year. Seeking to communicate what it is like to live with an invisible chronic condition from a young age, these works explore various invisible aspects of the condition. “We hope to raise awareness through the exhibition that arthritis can affect all ages and highlight our assertion that arthritis is invisible”. ARTthritis: Made Visible will run in Skypark from 11th to 18th November 2017. This year’s Christmas market is bigger and better than ever before, and we’re throwing open our doors from 1pm when the ice-rink will open, and we’ll be ready to welcome everyone from 4pm to 7pm for the main event. It’s open to all Skypark employees, so feel free to invite friends and family for what’s bound to be a fun-packed afternoon.
There’ll be entertainment from The Rag Time Dolls and musician Carl Bridgeman will perform live and there are great prizes up for grabs with a charity raffle for our friends, Finding Your Feet.
All Skypark tenants are entitled to one ticket per person, in exchange for one complimentary drink and food. Tickets are available in advance from Karha at Skypark 1 reception.
Redds Catering will be providing complimentary festive nibbles and Perfect Parties will be making sure Skypark’s bar is well stocked with complimentary Christmas cocktails, mulled wine, beer, Prosecco and soft drinks.

A Jewel in Finneston’s Crown The Wee Van By popular tenant demand, we’re celebrating Finnieston’s very own foodies, bars and shops in our column “A Jewel in Finneston’s Crown”. In this issue we’re delighted to introduce Christine Sawers the proud owner of The Wee Van! Christine and The Wee Van, is very popular with Skypark tenants, including Gary Grantham of Spire who nominated Christine. Christine said, “We offer a wide menu of snacks and wraps to venison burgers and our morning breakfast wraps are very popular, while our steak, mushroom and onion wraps fly out the door. They even keep your hands warm when walking back to Skypark! It’s wonderful to look after all of our Skypark customers and we have even named our famous “rosco burgers” in their honour, inspired by a former worker who has made them so popular.” The Wee Van is offering Skypark tenants a FREE tea with every double breakfast roll served before 10am until 31 October 2017. My journey was a challenge but any hesitation I had was soon gone as I walked through the SWEAT! Doors.
