We developed this product line to organize the patient room footwall and to eliminate unsightly spaces by combining a variety of products. Our markerboards are made to order, and use the most durable and highest quality materials. They allow for flexibility in configuration, dimension, finish specifications, and artwork selections. Because their components are interchangeable, you can build solutions that are simple or elaborate. Though our boards can be used in many different settings, a well-designed patient-care markerboard can facilitate the collection of data for the HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems).

SkylineSwitchBoards™ make a durable solution for patient-care markerboards at Memorial Hermann Memorial City.
Planning for the lifespan of a patient room means thinking carefully about long-term solutions or else risking expensive replacement costs. At Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital, communication boards were integrated into the footwall millwork during the original construction of the patient tower. The markerboard surface developed “ghosting” problems within a year, which impaired clear communication. Such damage leaves information visible from prior patients, putting patient privacy at risk. The staff resorted to ad hoc solutions, using adhesive film to re-cover the surface, and when that failed, simply taping sheets of paper to the surface. The results were unsightly and difficult to read, compromising the patients’ experience and safety.
