DEMO MUSIC CENTER studio III The Diverse Emerging Music Organization is a company that focuses on collaborating with many different people. From students to audience members, each visitor takes away a similar experience. Being first gathered at the main entrance, a series of slats and light levels guide them through an experiential space. They move past the lesson rooms which are a level below but protrude through the floor and the performance hall which hovers above them as they walk down the corridor. These slats connect the two spaces, dimming the light in the corridor and emphasizing light at the end, in the main lobby space.

SUBTERRANEAN SPACE design fundamentals II An exploration was done combining two void spaces into one. Below is the massing that became one of the void spaces by subtracting it from the volume to the right. We developed a space that accommodated an entertaining adventure. Qualities of light, materiality, and spatial relationships were modified to provoke intentional emotions that a visitor might experience on their journey through the space. A visitor would be taking their journey and encountering emotions such as Triumph and Depression noted to the right.

Being able to convey spatial relationships through technical and experiential hand drawings is a key skill for an architect to have in their tool kit. I was able to develop this skill during a semester long period of being exposed to how constant iteration can help to discover methods to highlight what I am trying to communicate through a drawing. Experimenting with superimposing different types of conventional techniques helped me further develop a way to enhance the understanding of spatial relationships when reading a drawing.

BEAR EXHIBITION studio I This exhibition space houses an American Black Bear collection including bear pelts, skeletons, taxidermies, and information boards in order to educate visitors on how these creatures exist within our world. Thick timber walls incorporate angled viewports meant to frame a visitorâ€™s perspective towards specific parts of displays and then are fully exposed when the visitor proceeds to move around it. A sensual experience is derived from utilizing forms of heavy timber and a concrete coffered ceiling, indirectly relating to a bearâ€™s mass.

ISTANBUL: EMINONU studio II With a focus on site integration, I redesigned an existing ferry station where the Golden Horn meets the Bosphorous Strait in Istanbul, Turkey. By analyzing the site and the existing building, I decided to introduce access points directly accessible from both flows of pedestrian traffic. My design also repurposes a space of repose that was previously underutilized and ignored by pedestrians. Altering the current site proper was imperative to the success of the ferry station, creating more of a destination and point of relaxation compared to the existing through-space.

From sitting on top of the station while waiting for their ferry, visitors can enjoy an elevated view towards the New Mosque, right behind the site proper across the tram line. While waiting inside the station, visitorâ€™s views are directed towards where their journey will take them, onto the Golden Horn and to their next destination.
