ACCESSIBILITY/UNIVERSAL DESIGN
Accessibility within every aspect of the space was a forefront consideration when making design choices. All circulatory spaces are at a minimum of 36” wide. As labeled on Diagram 02, there is at least one ADA compliant turning radius within each individual room. Wheelchair accessible stalls are in every restroom, along with code compliant grab bars. In order to access the second floor a large ramp extends the length of the building for those users who are unable to use the stairs. Railings are provided on all vertaical circulation spaces. Counter heights vary from 34” to 42” in order to accommodate users of varying heights.
Ergonomic Considerations

In reference to design theory 05, breaks in sedentary behaviors allow for an increase in cognitive functioning. This is why each space, whether social, collaborative, or educational, feature seating options that vary in ergonomic capabilities. This provides users with the option to pick and choose based on their own preferences. Classrooms are also designed so that not all users be required to gaze at one place. This allows for consistent breaks in sedentary behaviors along with strict postural changes.
