iaget’s first skeleton watches were unveiled in the 1970s and, like many other of the company’s creations, were immeditately adopted by a string of celebrities. One of their best-known early followers was legendary jazz trumpeter Miles Davis who was known to bring a selection of watches in a special watch suitcase to his shows, to choose his “watch of the evening” just before going on stage. Quite often, this turned out to be a Piaget… Piaget is returning today again into the field of skeleton watches by releasing a fully skeletonized version of the Piaget Polo, the revolutionary luxury sports watch the company first introduced in 1979. To perfect the Polo Skeleton, it became
necessary to create a remarkably thin case, 30 percent flatter compared to existing versions, and evolve Piaget’s 1200S skeleton movement with automatic winding, driven by an off-center micro-rotor engraved with the Piaget coat of arms.
The result is nothing less than a work of art to wear on the wrist: a sporty watch housed in a 42mm steel case, measuring only 6.5mm of thickness, and being powered by the ultra-thin (2.4mm) Piaget 1200S1 Manufacture automatic movement, designed and manufactured entirely in-house. This movement is available in two stunning versions: One is Piaget PVD-treated in an amazing shade of blue, while the second has an anthracite gray finish.
