Anti Tobacco Campaign
smoking is suicide
The tobacco epidemic has killed 100 million people worldwide in the 20th century and according to the World Health Organization's (WHO) 2008 Report, by the year 2030, there will be more than 8 million deaths every year unless urgent action is taken. What is even more alarming is that nearly 80% of these deaths are expected to occur in developing countries. This year, to mark World Tobacco Day, SKMCH&RC launched a public-awareness campaign against tobacco on May 31, 2008. The campaign included creating awareness through television advertisements, display of anti-tobacco messages on billboards in the major cities of Pakistan, and a poster competition involving all major schools across Pakistan.
