About Geilo

Geilo is a vibrant mountain village, situated between Norway's main cities Oslo and Bergen. The altitude is about 850 meter above sea level and the air is fresh up up here in the mountains. Geilo is a National Park Village and is a portal to two national parks, Hallingskarvet National Park and Hardangervidda National Park. Here, you have a fantastic starting point for several adventures and activities all year round!

How to collaborate

To get access to all of the bookable products, a contract will be sent to you with the terms and condidtions. After the contract is signed, contract rates and log-in details, giving you access to our booking system, will be sent to you; so that you can book accommodations, ski products, activities, and the airport shuttle. We will also send you our contract rates.

How to get here

Geilo is centrally located along the Bergen Railway, halfway between Oslo and Bergen. You can travel to Geilo by car, train or bus. During the winter season, there is an airport shuttle, which is a direct shuttle between the Oslo airport and Geilo. Tickets will be available via our website and in your agent channel in Citybreak.

Alpine Guide

Geilo is one of Norway’s largest ski resorts, and has been voted Norway’s Best Ski Resort by World Ski Awards in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. The last couple of years, many upgrades have been done to not only the ski lifts, but also the cafés and the facilities in the different areas. In Geilo, you will find slopes on 5 mountain sides, and on both sides of the valley. Both sides are connected by the free ski buses that run throughout the day.

Lift passes

Buy lift passes via Geilo Booking or advise guests to buy online at geilo.com. All purchases will be confirmed per email, with a QR code attached. This QR-code can be used to obtain the lift pass at a pick up box at any hotel in Geilo, or at any base area at the ski center.

Skirental

Geilo has 3 ski and snowboard rentals close to the lifts and runs, and they are open every day during the season. In our ski rentals, you can also find ski shops with gloves, beanies, goggles, helmets, sunscreen etc. All ski rentals are accessible by ski bus.

The ”Skier's Welcome Center” and largest ski rental in Geilo is located in our main base area, close to the slopes, accessible by car, skibus or a very short walk from the Vestlia Resort and Geilolia Cabins

Ski Bus

Transportation to and from the ski lifts are provided by 3 modern ski buses.

During the morning, the time the ski buses run by the following hotels: Vestlia Resort, Bardøla, Dr. Holms, Ustedalen Resort, Havsdalsgrenda, Geilo Hotel and Øen Turistsenter. It also stops at the Geilojordet which connects Highland Lodge and Geilo city center. The ski buses bring you to/from the alpine base areas at Vestlia, Geiloheisen and Slaatta.

During the day the ski buses operate as shuttles between the base area on both sides, making it easy and convenient to ski on all of Geilo’s 5 mountain sides in one day.

Ski School

There are 2 ski schools operating in Geilo: SkiGeilo SkiSchool (Vestlia and Havsdalen) and Geilo Ski school (Slaatta).

Group tuition at Vestlia and Slaatta all season and in Havsdalen during week 51, 52, 1, 6-10, 15 and 16.

Private lessons are available at Vestlia, Havsdalen, Geiloheisen, Slaatta and Kikut throughout the season.

To book a ski school, please provide the following information: Name, age, level. Instruction is available for Alpine, Snowboard, Telemark, Cross Country skiing and Adaptive snowsport.

SkiPlay and SnowPlay

A supervised fun on skis for children (5+). Perfect for when Mum and Dad are having ski lessons. Sessions are run by ski school instructors and last 5 days for 80 minutes each day. The activities will vary from day to day, and will include activities with or without skis. (Please note: This is not a ski school, it’s ski & snow fun!)

SkiAdventure (By Slaatta)

Fun and exciting skiing for children who can ski green/blue slopes and can take the lifts by themselves. The group will be divided by age and abilities. We explore the ski area through fun skiing and games, we find the best places to ski. You get the chance to meet the lift operators and visit the ski patrol.

We also take a well-deserved bun and hot chocolate break at Slaatta Café.

Childcare at Trollklubben

Trollklubben is a “ski in – ski out” childcare, situated in a cozy log cabin at Vestlia.

Trollklubben offers childcare for children 08 years old. Our professional team of staff are there to give your child expert care in a fun and safe environment.

Please note that the children must be checked-in and checked-out by the parents. Available from approximately pre-Christmas to end-Easter

At Geilo you can find a selection of bike trails for beginners and experienced. Lift-based biking in Vestlia with technical singletracks through the woods, pump and dirt tracks, fast flow trails, or wider family-friendly trails.

Family-friendly mountain biking or try Norways most popular cycling route, the Navvy Road (Rallarvegen). A scenic route that brings you through a fantastic highland areas, starting at 1000 meters above sea level, peaking at 1350 meters for then to lead you back down to the fjords at sea level.

A paradise for hiking

In Geilo, you will find hiking trails that are suitable for everyone.

Take the shortcut to the Hardangervidda plateau with the chairlift up from Vestlia, or take an electric bike up to the foot of the Hallingskarvet mountains and go to the top. Rest areas and cabins, which offer a well-deserved break and food, are the reward that awaits those who reach their goal.

Sledding

Dagali Fjellpark has one of Norway`s longest, lift-based sledding slopes1,859 meters. Here you can come up to speeds of 70 km/h!

The climbing park is located in the heart of Geilo Summer Park with 3 training courses, 2 orange, 2 green, 1 blue, and 1 red course - all filled with fun and exciting challenges

Geilolia Hyttetun (Forest cabins) consists of 37 cozy and well-equipped high standard rental cabins right at the ski resort in Vestlia. It offers accommodation in cabins with 3-5 bedrooms, with 6 – 12 beds.

The cabins have plenty of room for larger families, businesses, groups of friends and other groups. Relax in your private sauna after an active day outdoors or by the fireplace in the evening. The cabins have ski-in/ski-out access to the ski resort. If you prefer cross-country skiing, the popular “Ustedalsfjorden” trail runs close by.
