Summary of the Weekend

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the Skerries Traditional Music Weekend. This picturesque seaside town plays host to a weekend full of music and song, reflecting the unique culture of the Fingal region. Leading artists travel to Skerries where they join with locals and visitors in a celebration of Irish Heritage. Once again the Weekend focuses exclusively on sessions catering for a variety of musicians, listeners, adult learners, teenagers, families and indeed all wishing to experience Irish traditional music at its best. This year, for the very first time, Saturday afternoon features a special Harp Recital and Harp Session featuring six fine exponents of the instrument –Siobhán Bhreathnach, Áine Martin, Noreen O’Donoghue, Fiona Gryson, Alannah Thornburgh and Emer Ní Scolaí. This Recital will take place in La Scarpetta at 4pm on Saturday, where all are welcome to listen to the six harpists and then join them for a session.
